Heard Something Interesting During the Earnings Call

During the last Disney Earning Call, Bob Iger referred to Disney as a brand. He said something along the lines of, with all our brands, Marvel, Lucasfilm, Disney... Does this mean that TWDC no longer looks at Disney as everything? Just my thoughts.

I don't think they have for years have they? I mean they are all part of the Disney company but Disney is a separate brand associated with Princesses, family movies etc.

Yes, I'm sure he was talking about the Disney studios which is of course separate from lucasfilm, and marvel and Pixar.

Kind of depends on what you mean by "Disney". Just the parks/cruise ships? That plus the Disney movies? No, TWDC is much larger than those together. TWDC also includes media networks and consumer products divisions. The ABC network, ESPN and several other video properties are also owned by TWDC and make up a substantial portion of its revenue and income.

Disney is both the umbrella, and a brand under the umbrella. Neither contradict the other.
