Hi all! I REALLY need suggestions. I am only able to do quick service on our next trip and while this isn't a problem for my 11 year old son and myself, it is for my 7 year old daughter. I need to find healthier choices for her but the majority of the kids meals on the menus are mac and cheese and burgers. Granted there are grapes and carrot/celery sticks but I am really hoping to be able to find healthier otions like salads, grilled chicken, etc. Carbs are not her friend. I would GREATLY appreciate any suggestions or advice. My friend who returned from a Christmas trip said her daughter was allowed to order from the adult menu as long as it was quick service and that this is something that while not advertised is fine......wonder if I would be so lucky on our trip????? It's bad enough that there is a dessert with each lunch or dinner.

Do you have to do the dining plan? Why not just go OOP so you can order what you want and skip desserts? If you price it out without all the desserts, you'll probably find it's cheaper. Then you can spend your money on desserts/snacks you really want instead of the pre-packaged ones that come with the QS meals.

If you're on the dining plan you have to order for her from the children's menu. But you can register her as 10 years old and get the adult plan. If you're on a package with tickets, you'd also have to buy her an adult park ticket.

The DIS Restaurant Board does not allow discussion of how to get around Disney's rule that children's credits are not to be used for adult meals in restaurants that have a children's menu. Posts discussing that are deleted.

If you are not on the dining plan you may order for her from whatever menu you wish. Although the first post doesn't really say so it sounds as though the OP is on the dining plan.

If she has a medical condition, see the DisABILITIES board for contact information regarding Disney Special Diets.

depending on your resort...
If you are at a value or Port Orleans Fq...they have great QS meals that are really good.. They had fish, or meat and veggie and potato at All Star resorts and also at Pop...They also have some of these choices at FQ...
IF you use your cs for breakfast at your resort(as long as its one that is listed above...and then a QS for lunch or dinner...then you could pay out of pocket for some of the better choices at the parks...at MK they have cosmic Rays that have good choices.. also Columbia House...and Pecos bills...not really great but still not bad choices..In Epcot there are some out of pocket that you could get..
At AK, the choices are pretty good too...Flame tree, Pizzafari and also Yak and Yeti counter service...
We have a great menu listed ...at the top of the dis boards...they have one listed as dining...and then go to restaurants and menus...
Have fun

How do you feel about sharing?

You could use her 2 kids meal credits for breakfasts (shared between the 3 of you) and then share your two adult credits between the 3 of you for lunches and dinners.

This would allow you to have 3 smaller meals per day.

Some of the portions are quite large - especially when you count in the dessert.

You could also use some of your snack credits to add more sides (such as a side salad, fruit bowl, etc) if you find the two meals aren't quite enough.

Sunshine Seasons in the Land in Epcot has healthier QS options for the whole family. They also are very good for substituting - it might say the kids meal comes with mashed potatoes but they'll let you have the green beans or cooked carrots on the same station.

In general, don't be afraid to ask if a restaurant has what you think should be a good side dish substitution. When we were at MK last year, Columbia Harbor House didn't have broccoli, but now it's on the menu. I will unabashedly ask for a substitution when we go in March.
