Just a heads up to others who booked Airtran for Feb. 2010.( we are out of Buffalo)

They just cancelled our non-stop flight on Feb 3 and our friends flight on Feb 4. I noticed the change right away ( they have not yet assigned our new flight...still in the works) . NO non stop flights Tues/ Wed/ or Thurday now.

We cancelled and were refunded all of our money. Thank goodness Jet Blue still had non-stop flights available for Feb. 3rd. Cost us more( $100 total, but we will arrive much earlier and bags and seats are free)...but at least they are non-stop.

You might want to check if you are booked in Feb.

Yes, Airtran is notorious for that. They cancelled my flight 3 different times for the same trip! At no time was I even notified. I had to call them directly myself to take care of things. The assured me that they had tried to contact me via email and phone, but to no avail. What crap! The do this stuff all the time. That is why I would rather pay a little more money and fly Southwest, (free bags) and be secure that I will actually have a flight!

Yeah, we won;t fly airtran again. Our flight times for our September trip kept on changing, then they turned our nonstop flights into layovers in Atlanta, 3 hour layovers!!!!! Yep, cancelled that right away!

This also happened to us last month for our return flight of our Disney cruise. We flew SWA down for no luggage fees but like DCL's Onboard Checkin so we flew Airtran home. It worked perfectly last year so we tried again but our nonstop noon flight was cancelled so we opted for a later nonstop, 7:30pm.

Since we had so much time to kill (must be off the ship by 9am) we had to rent a car and find something to do, which defeats the purpose of using DCL's transportation ($140 one way for our fam of 4) and having the luggage handling. It really messed up our plans. The only reason we didn't cancel is that our fares were only $59 so at that price how could I complain to them too much?
Not sure what we'll do next time. I really wish SWA would become a participating airline w/ DCL.

Our non-stop on 1/24 to PIT was also canceled - we were re-booked on a connecting flight througn ATL. We were also coming off a DCL that morning - would have canceled AT and re-booked a non-stop on SW, but the price was much higher at this point than I had originally paid on AT.

Our connection in Atlanta was cancelled. We were moved to an earlier connection - getting into MCO at 1230p now instead of 145p. Which is nice, but the layover time of 45 minutes now is scary to me! Hopefully the gates are close!

I too am having a problem with Airtran for Feb 3rd. I booked my flights back in August--since then our flight numbers and times have been changed 6 times with NO notification. Again today I checked our ressies and our times and seats had been changed! I called airtran and they said that I had been notified by email. That was a complete LIE!! I have never been notified! I think if it changes one more time I am going to tell them to forget it and fly with Jet Blue! UGH!

If you are going to cancel....there are some flights available on Jet Blue, at least there was for us.
We just booked Feb.3 with Jet Blue. There are $69.00 and $84.00 flights that day from Buffalo . We booked the $84 because it had an earlier arrival. I think we paid $54 for these Airtran flights back in July, when they were first released. What a hassle this booking has been.
Also 1st bag and seats are free on Jet blue.

Tell you what, if I could get $54 one way flights to MCO from my home town, they could change the flight time all they wanted to........

It's not the "time". They changed our non stop to a layover. They removed all non stop flights for Tuesday/Wed/ Thus.
With three small kids, a layover ( especially one that makes our trip 6-8 hrs long) is a big deal for us. $54 was why we booked. I didn't care if they changed our time..they did that about 8 times before they took the flights away.

Agreed. We have 2 small kids, so layovers aren't exactly fun times...however, for as cheap as I am getting the tickets, I will grin and bear it.

Yes, the short layover time scares me...esp in the middle of winter coming from Mn. However, I also know that there are plently of flights from ATL to MCO and if worst came to worst, we would just take the next available! It's worth it for as cheap as we get the tickets, IMO.

After all the problems we've had with AirTran we decided:
"AirTran? We'd rather walk!"

But have to say we love Southwest!

Not sure if this will help you out or not, but last year they cancelled our nonstops as well. So I called them and they actually let us rebook nonstop flights in and out of another airport for no extra charge. Never heard of an airline letting you do that so we were happy with that even though the whole process was a pain.

Hope it works out well for you!

It's definitely stinks to have your non-stop flight changed to a flight with a layover; however, as has been mentioned, Air Tran is very, very accomodating when they make a change to their schedule.

My daughter was scheduled to fly to Orlando from Dulles at the beginning of the month. She was flying back to DC into Reagan National. Air Tran ended up removing the non-stop flight from Dulles and she was able to switch to a non-stop flight from Reagan instead. Then they moved her flight coming from from 8:55am to 9:05am (yes 10 minutes) and she was able to switch to the 2:00pm flight. Of course, all of these changes were made for free.

As to Air Tran not notifying some people, I'm not sure why that happens, although I will say that my daughter noticed both changes before we received anything from Air Tran. She made the change to the first flight right away. We did receive an e-mail about the 10 minute change, but it wasn't until about 2 weeks after my daughter noticed the change.

Airtran changed my flight time in October several times without notifying me. The last change made me unhappy (arriving at MCO 2 hours later than planned and I already had ADR's) so I called them. I couldn't get a better flight time but I did ask why my flight had changed 6 times and I hadn't been notifyed. The agent I spoke with told me they don't notify people until they know they are done making changes. Sure enough, I got an email 2 weeks later and even though there was still more than a month to go until my flight, it never changed again. So, for those of you who haven't been notifyed yet, it may mean Airtran isn't done making changes. I hope this helps.

They DO still have the thursday non stop flights.
so far anyhow.....we are booked buffalo orlando on a thursday in march and returning on a sunday. I am not worried about the sunday but am worried they will take away the direct outbound and this is march break time so that would be a total drag.

Sorry I should have clarified..

FEBRARY non-stops were cancelled for the week we were leaving.
Good luck with your March flights. I'd keep checking if I were you...::rolleyes1
