Head's up Regarding Security in MCO & Food

How are the pre lines right Now?

I may end up adding Clear since we'll be MCO several times next year.

Anyone knows how to be sure we get TSA PreCheck if we are traveling with our Nexus card? DH booked us flights to LAX in April with Aeroplan points (Air Canada) and he didn't know he had to enter our Nexus numbers in the system so our flights were booked without them. I edited the traveler info later with our Nexus number but I remember reading somewhere that some airline will only print the PreCheck on the tickets IF the Nexus number was in the traveler file/profile prior to booking their flights... Anyone knows about Air Canada?

We often used our Nexus cards to cross the land borders but never to fly to the USA. We are flying out of YUL.

CALL the airline and ask them to add your KTN to the reservation.

That said, PreCheck only works from the US departure; in Canada you only have to show your Nexus card at the priority security line (if there is one) - there should be signs.

I will tell DH to call! Thanks for the tip!

At YUL DH often uses his Nexus card for security, even for domestic flights since it saves him a good 20-30 minutes every time. I really want the TSA PreCheck for LAX since our flight is early (8am) and I don't want to get there more than 3h prior.

Question: is this for carry on only or checked as well? we buy Disney treats to bring home with snack credits to keep the fun going for the few days of after Disney depression. LOL If we check the snacks in the luggage, will that be fine?

So I am a bit confused. I understand they are checking everything, but are you all saying that they are not allowing food, candy items on the flights now? Are they opening up the candy? I am not clear, and this would effect a little about how we do Halloween in the future there. Is it just carry ons? Or can I not put them all in my checked? Also is this just the states? We are flying to Jamaica soon same thing?
Lots of questions.

1st, realize this is not actual-on-the-ground info, just from what I've read & researched myself. There is no written info on the TSA site (last checked mid-afternoon Sat) about food BTW. I know other countries use the same process that TSA does, but not sure if that will be the case for international flights that don't land in the states or not??

Just for carry-on luggage, you can still stuff all those goodies into your checked luggage.
Yes, you can take food onto planes (at the moment anyway this seems to be a moving target!) but there are reports over every single item being inspected -- not opening individual candies but dumping bags out, opening boxes of granola bars to check each one, sending fruit thru in bins instead of in bags, checking baby-food/milk that before was just waived thru. Basically just really slowing the entire process down. Some have said they are using dogs as well and when the pooch needs to pee the line just stops.

I would put the treats in your checked bags to make things easier on yourself.

I keep wondering if we should get NEXXUS cards, any idea if it would help with some of this?

Definitely - IF they have the lanes open. We've been to MCO when sometimes they weren't open. No reason given why not.

You also have to make sure to have your number entered onto your boarding pass. Just going to the line and showing your Nexus card is insufficient. That's not the case in Pearson, for example, and possibly other Canadian airports but in the US airports it has to be done before (at least all of the ones that DH and/or I have been in). Check to make sure it says TSA PreCheck on your boarding pass.
