Heads up - my SWA fare for end of August just dropped

Mine went up another $72 each way. Its now gone up $134 each way since I bought.

Nov 30 to Dec 9 direct flight from msp also dropped by $112 round trip! Web fares were $185 each way when the dates opened and are $129 now.

HA. I just checked out of curiosity...the fares from Albany actually went UP for my dates at the end of August. Morning departure and afternoon return on nonstop is $532!!!

Points of comparison:

1. Delta with a stop in Atlanta each way with arrival and departure from MCO is $253.

2. United with a stop each way and somewhat similar times (later return from MCO) is $486.

2. I'm actually traveling out of LaGuardia for this trip. Booked Jetblue down for $128 and Delta back for $150 or so (don't remember total). Those had the best mix of times, nonstop and price...round trip on either was much higher.

I still love Southwest, but their fares are sometimes just barely competitive...I usually end up doing a cost/benefit analysis where I have to factor in nonstop flights and no baggage fees on top of the fare so that I can justify the cost.

Glad to hear that someone's fares went down with the latest sale because ours certainly didn't! I've been checking our October fares regularly and all they do is go up! They are anywhere from ~2500 to 6,000 points higher than when I purchased ours. Hopefully if oil continues to decline, then our fares will come down a bit. If not, I'm thankful that I couls still book them for under 7,000 points each!

Sorry guys! Our flights have gone from just over 12500 to 6400 points/leg. SCORE! We now have enough points back for 4 more rt flights in the winter.
