HEADS UP... Disney just changed the EMH schedule for July all the way thru Dec...

OT a bit, but honestly, it's the little things like this that are keeping us from going to WDW next year. This in itself isn't a huge deal for us in terms of our plans, though I think it is absolutely absurd that for 10 days in July there isn't 1 EMH evening at the Magic Kingdom, but it's the point of the matter. It's a cutback, which we're sick of, but it's also very insulting to those of us who have played by these stupid rules Disney has set up. Their whole campaign about FP+ is about planning ahead and maximizing your fun (which we know is crap). But then to go and throw a wrench in the entire thing is just insult to injury. Nothing surprises me anymore about WDW. Our not going isn't going to mean babka in the long run, but it makes me feel better to be spending my money someplace else, even if it is at Disneyland.:upsidedow

It's like a game the Disney gods are playing with us. I can just see the higher-ups standing around a model of the park, like the gods in Clash of the Titans, fooling around with us mortals:

- OK here people, plan and plan some more, now let's throw in FP+ and see how they do.....

- Now add major construction at the Poly and pool construction at WL when it's scorchingly hot

- Throw in hub construction and scrims on just about everything else......

- Let's lay waste to Downtown Disney....

Ok wait wait, I've got one .... No monorail service at park opening for the people shelling out mega bucks to stay at a deluxe... Let's watch (long pause).....

Oh man, they're ticked now! What else can we throw at 'em?

Glad we're not going until October, so I haven't made FP+ selections yet. None of the calendars match. The one on here says MK opens at 8 on 10/21 but easywdw, UT, and Disney all still say 9. Some have MK EMH on 10/18 but some on 10/20. Which one is likely most accurate? I think I'll stick with what's on the Disney site unless there's really a reason not to?

So, yesterday, after learning that EMH was severely reduced until, at least December, I sent an email to WDW. I nicely told them how one of the major perks for staying on-site is EMH and how they've now basically killed that perk. My Sunday was specifically tied to MK EMH.

Last night, I got a message on FB from a friend who works at Disney: "Guess what, I had a funny thing happen to me at work. Are you coming to Disney in October?" He got my email! He thanked me for the 'polite complaint' and told me he had several emails with the same situation. He didn't know what happened to cause the flood of emails... I told him the situation. He said Disney needs to be more mindful of these types of changes since you now have to plan your visit down to the minute.

He also said that he was passing my email up the line, instead of sending me the canned 'thank you for your concerns' email.

At least it was nice to know that someone is actually reading the emails.

Would you mind letting us know if you receive a response?

So, just curious... is the general consensus that they must think that by moving EMH from Sunday to Saturday at MK that they will have more people able to stay late in the park between 11-1 and therefore they might make a little more in miscellaneous sales during that two hour window? Seems odd if that's the case as most concessions and retail closes down that late, right?

Why else might they make that change?

If only we all knew someone who works at Disney.

I didn't read every post so forgive me if I'm missing something. Was this change posted on Disney Parks? I just checked for my 11/16-11/22 dates and everything is OK and doesn't seem different to me. I also love early EMH and with the party two of the three days we planned on MK, the evening EMH were important. Is it not yet "officially" posted on their site yet? I'm pretty locked into our schedule as is right now with ADRs.

:lmao::rotfl2::lmao::rotfl2:

You can add the restaurant restriction game.

Have empty tables but no ADR's available

Show up early for an ADR and make them sit for 20 minutes while most of the restuarant is empty.

Walk up to a half empty restaurant and have them tell you they can't take walk ups they are full.

Close most of the attractions due to inclement weather but charge $10/person cancellation fee if we want to leave the park.

EasyWDW.com posted the change. Take a look.

Thank goodness we can still laugh :lmao::lmao::lmao:about this whole mess!

There are now no late EMH at Magic Kingdom for our trip July 11-20. We are leaving on the 20th so can't do that day. Historically MK has always had late EMH on Sundays so I plan around that. It does bother me that Disney wants us to plan so far in advance and we accommodate them by doing that and they change the game on us by changing their hours 2 weeks before my trip when most of the headliners will be booked for FP's. It would be nice if Disney would also set their schedule 2 monthes in advance like they want us to do.

Did they actually "increase" park hours overall? Or just lop off and/or change EMH dates. Still bad form-but looking for a silver lining. No idea where to look.

Most evening Extra Magic Hours at the Magic Kingdom have been moved to different days from mid-July onwards, along with morning Extra Magic Hours at Disney's Animal Kingdom. Both parks have also seen significant extensions to park hours, and at the Magic Kingdom, an increase in the number of Main Street Electrical Parade performances.

Disney's Hollywood Studios has also seen changes to EMH days, and a lot of extensions to regular operating hours and additional Fantasmic! shows.

Epcot appears to have escaped any changes so far.

They didn't just move evening EMH during our trip (July 8-15), they took it away all together. No evening EMH at MK during our entire week there. Staying at MK until the end during EMH is one of our favorite things to do, and I booked 3 nights at BLT because of this. I can see no silver lining to what they did for our week. I know we will have fun and this won't ruin our trip by any means, but I am still extremely disappointed that they would make this change on such short notice.

I check in every once in awhile to see what's up in the land of Disney and find myself shaking my head again. I'm sorry for all you careful planners whose plans were spoiled. I'm sure you'll still have a great time, but you don't need another headache trying to plan fun. The idea that Disney would actually reply to concerns by saying most people don't plan ahead is :rotfl2: I'm pretty sure that's the whole point of FP+ prebooking? Not to mention 180+ days ADRs. Shouldn't they actually be encouraging those who are complying?

We're spending a week at the darkside next June with our three HP fanatics who are also developing a love for Marvel super heroes. I'd love to head over to DHS for Star Wars days, but not if it's going to be a giant headache in the middle of a very relaxing, no schedule trip. To be fair, Universal goers have been stressing about the later-than-expected opening of Diagon Alley, so nothing's perfect.

I understand and agree with you-3 hour EMH was even far better than the 2. I am just wondering for accuracy (and is there a way to see the old calendar)-did they add an hour every night at MK for example. Its now midnight every night that week-was it 11PM before every night and one night 1AM?

Doesn't this fall into the category of False Advertising? One of the perks they promote for those staying on the property is 'extra hours' in the parks each day just for resort guests. Now they are taking some of those away. It doesn't make sense that they can now remove many of those days.

It's interesting that they have extended the hours, and then cut back the emhs. I feel this is the foreboding of the extinction of emhs altogether. The new resort perk might be the number of fp+ available and the window of booking them. (I've got the stick out, and am beating the dead horse!) They got rid of legacy mighty fast. This new system is still in infancy, and I suspect we haven't seen anything yet regarding some of the changes to come.

We will be at BLT for 3 nights. Two of those nights have an 11:00 park closing, and the last night is midnight. I don't know what the other nights look like at MK for the other days. Originally, the late night EMH was scheduled for our second night there. The plan was to stay late at MK, and then sleep in and lounge around the pool the next day. Now, if we stay until midnight on our last night, we have to get up, pack, and check out in the morning. Ugh, you know what they say about the best laid plans! Still hoping for a little :wizard: - maybe they'll realize they made a mistake and go back to the old calendar.
