I would try and get some. When DD was 3 I could get them to work but the kept sliding down her head. This time I got her some from the headphone place at Parramatta. I would not get the ones that have a limited volume for kids though as I tried these first and you can hardly hear anything with them and once you're on the plane with the rumbling of the engines you'd hear nothing.
The ones provided are on the cheap side of cheap. Would look for a reasonable set to take that are a bit sturdier ( make sure you get the attachment with the double prong for planes , as the will only come as something you plug into an iPod etc)
