is he just at the beginning of the parade? then goes off somewhere? or does he lead the parade down Main St?

He goes down the parade route right before the parade begins. There is no parade behind him and it's quite dark. Then the lights come on and the parade begins...at least that is how it was on Main Street.

They make several announcements about him coming and how you have to be COMPLETELY off the street; even your feet as he can't see very good.

the headless horsemen begins the parade by galloping solo down mainstreet from the entrance area toward the castle , then disappears! It is fabulous, but quick!

The Headless Horseman also goes down the street through FrontierLand, he follows the parade route. We stayed for both parades and saw him in FrontierLand the first time, then at the end of Main Street the second. It was really neat, but fast!

There is (or has been for the past 3 years at least) a fabulous storyteller that tells the story of the Headless Horseman several times a night - ending the story right Before the HH gallops thru the street. One of my favorite parts of MNSSHP - definitely try to catch him if you like the HH - He tells the tale near the Liberty Bell area - ask one of the CMs in that area - He's not listed on the night's programs.....

We listened to the tale of the headless horesman last year in Liberty Square - you just have to get there at the right time, because it's true - his storytelling is not listed anywhere on the program ( I don't know why?).

The setting here is perfect and many of the buildings are lit in "Halloween green" and look very spooky - similar to mainstreet.

We found this area to be much LESS crowded and in many ways much more "mood setting" than on Main Street.

The storyteller "warns" you that he is coming so you know when to watch. We got it on videotape and it is really a neat thing to see.

Really puts you in the spirit of halloween!

About an hour before the parade, there is a story telling of the story of Ichabod Crane. The story is told by a ghostly 18th century figure who announces the story by waliking infront of liberty square ringing a bell.

The story was great. Really sets the mood for the headless horseman.

I agree...its a great thing to see but good luck getting a photo of it. We went to two parties last year and i tried taking photos while my sister videotaped it. It came out on the video but not on any photos-really weird!
