Hi guys. We are doing MNSSHP for the first time this year. One of the main things I really want to see is the Headless Horseman. I've read accounts in the past of the perfect place to be to see him but I can't seem to find that now. Can someone please let me know what the EXACT place and time is to get the best view of the Horseman?

The other thing is, I heard he only appears before the first parade. We were planning on doing the 2nd parade, so I'm really hoping this isn't true. Can anyone confirm that he appears before both parades?

If anyone has any other tips please include them. Thank you so much!

He appears before both parades, conditions permitting. If the ground is wet, he will likely not ride.

As for the "exact best place" to see him, that is entirely subjective. My personal preference is near the bridge from Liberty Square to the Hub.

Oh that's a relief that he appears before both shows. Thanks so much for this info!

You probably read a report from someone where HH did only ride before one parade that particular night. Maybe it was wet, the horse wasn't ready to go, or some other glitch. Its even plausible that they simply missed his passing before one parade, as he can go by a good 15 monutes or so before the parade starts, depending on wherer you are on the parade route. But then that person who saw this, or someone who reads it, assumes that one ride per night is the norm for every night.

Thank you, that makes me feel a lot better. We'll make sure to queue up for the parade well within enough time as not to miss him. Fingers crossed for clear skies. Thanks again so much!

We sat right after the bridge from splash mountain/thunder mountain to fronteir land. I believe we were across from country bear jamboree. We got to see the headless horseman go up on the hourses back legs then take off. You can miss it if you're not careful. Like the PP said it can happen 15 minutes before the parade.

:goodvibes Thanks for posting this. I didn't realize he came out before the parade.

We are doing MNSSHP for the first time too and can't wait to see him:cool1:

OOooooh I want to see him do that. Thanks. I'm looking at the map right now and maybe it would be better to sit over in Frontierland. Anyone else have experiences on seeing the Horseman?

You're welcome! Have a great time at MNSSHP!

We sat on the hub near where you come over the bridge from Liberty Square and had a great view of him comign across the bridge and turning in front of us.

We were on the hub tomorrowland side for 2nd parade show last year, and saw him ride over the bridge and around the hub, had the horse rear up, and race off down Main Street. And it was at LEAST 15 minutes before we saw the first floats after that. We were seated a good 45 minutes- 1 hour before the parade start time.

I went a few years ago and saw him at the first parade, running down Main Street. Definitely make sure you see him! He was my favorite part of the whole MNSSHP :)

I like to sit on the "planter" outside Pecos Bills kind of across from the Splash Mountain bridge. You have to get there early to get a seat, but you can people watch. Also, when you sit there and it's time for the HH, a CM will come and make you stand behind the planter while he goes by. Once he is past, you can return to your seats.

BTW, the HH is one of the coolest things about that parade. I'm tempted to go to the Halloween party when I'm there in October, just for that...

I agree with sitting at the Bridge at Liberty Square. He stopped on the bridge last year waiting for the que for music to start at the hub so we saw him for more than a flash. Him, and the Grave Diggers are my fav!

also agree with the bridge. We sat there and got a great view of everyone, not just the headless horseman. But also agree that he goes before the whole thing, so I almost missed him for my pictures because I wasn't ready!

As the PPs have said, there are really lots of great places to watch/see the Headless Horseman from. Essentially, any location where you have a "long" (i.e., the greater the amount of the parade route you can see, the better your view) view of the parade route will give you a good view of him.

This is from Frontierland (near LTT, I think):

Something else to keep in mind is that he starts his ride a few minutes (maybe 5-ish) before the parade starts, but he moves faster than the parade, so if you're waiting on Main Street, the time between his ride and the parade is longer.

Also, they make an announcement before he rides (it's a really short re-telling of the legend), so you know that means he's coming soon. So at that point have your camera ready (if you're taking pictures). He doesn't move that fast, but still it's better to be ready.

Finally, as a PP indicated, the HH doesn't ride if the ground is wet. So, if it's raining or has been raining recently, it's unlikely that he'll ride.

Alas I don't know Liberty Square well enough to know where we sat, but we had a nice view of him coming around the bend.

This was last year, early on in the Halloween parties, and he came just about 15 minutes before it all started. If I hadn't know this and hadn't had my camera ready, I would have missed him completely.

We had a great spot right by the bridge as it transitions into the castle area. The Headless Horseman stopped there for a bit before getting the go-ahead to proceed.
