My DW, DS (4 yrs old) and myself are heading to stay at the WL for 11 days next week. This board has been immensely helpful in pointing out things that I should try to participate in (Duck races, flag family, etc) as well as giving me a great view into what I can expect.

Is there any other opinions/advice that anyone can give me on things to do around the resort or special things that people don't notice very often?

Thanks!

My son loved the fossil displays. I can't remember what floor they were on ... but they are on the floors that over looked the lobby. I'm sure the front desk could tell you.

Don't forget to take advantage of the offerings at FW. The campfire sing-a-long is shown each evening, follwed by a movie. This is free. The movies for your trip can be found listed on the camping board. Also, try the hay rides at FW. They are pretty cheap, and a lot of fun. For a good arcade, take the boat ride to the CR. The electrical water pageant is fun each night at 9:30 in front of the resort.

Please do a trip report upon your return. We're not going until October; I love to hear about WL.

Check out the otter pond and the geyser "behind" the big pool. The beach area is fun for a siesta. Be sure to get the sheet for the WL Hidden Mickey Hunt. That is loads of fun, trying to find them all.

Hope you have a wonderful time!!

Take some of your leftover breakfast bread or dry cereal with you to the dock to wait for the boat. My DD's loved to feed the fish while waiting. The fish are very aggressive and make a lot of splashes that all of the kids enjoyed. There is a dry fish food gumball type machine (25c) on the dock too if you prefer.

In the corner of the lobby to the right of the check in desk as you look at it there is a sitting area with a TV that always had Chip and Dale movies playing. Chip and Dale are a lot more prevalent at WL and FW than they are at the other resorts and parks. By the end of our trip the girls really liked them.

Ask for ketchup at Whispering Pines. Don't ask. Just do it.

Find the Bears Face of lit windows when you look at WL from the water at night.

In the swimming pool go to the part where the water flows in from the lodge and let the "river" flow onto you.

Two quick pointers:
1. If you want to be a flag family sign up at guest relations to the far left of the front desk even before you check in or as soon as you check in. My family was the flag family on June 10th and I luckily got that day as that was the day we were leaving. As I signed up about two hours after I checked in and that was on June 3rd so beware that the flag family list fills up fast but the view is neat and memorable. and If you are the flag family make sure you take a picture with your family and the wilderness lodge flag. We made a mistake by not doing that. The disney flag just didn't do justice to the event.
2. The lobby is on the 2nd floor this fact took two days to sink in and it wasn't until I tried to enter someone else's room.
