Can;t wait to see you guys again! :yay::yay:

Yay for the Dis!

Oh my goodness! I absolutely love the cake. What a fantastic job you did!
Thanks Lisa! It was fun to make. :goodvibes

You, my dear, are one talented lady:thumbsup2 It is so nice!

Ok, those chicken fajita nachos you speak of sound scrumptious! We don't have mexican restaurants here, but when we have our shopping weekends to North Dakota, it's what we have the first night everytime we go....with a pitcher of margaritas:rolleyes1

We're heading out for dinner tonight with Thomas' family so we're looking forward to it!!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Hope dinner with Thomas' family went well. The chicken fajitas nachos are so delicious. I would be so sad if I didn't get regular Mexican food. It's one of my favorites for sure. :goodvibes I love Margarita's! What a great tradition. :goodvibes

Hope you've had a wonderful weekend also!

That cake is awesome! Very nice job. Have a great day!! :goodvibes
Thanks Kayce! Hope you've had a nice weekend!:goodvibes

Another awesome cake, Leanne!!:thumbsup2

Can't wait to hear about your Give A Day event! I've been looking for something around here that Emily can help with, but no such luck. :sad2:
Thanks Wendy! I will have details on the Give A Day event tomorrow. The coordinator will be emailing me some pics tomorrow morning. I only took a few. It was really awesome though. I couldn't believe how well the kids did with the elderly folks.

Awesome cake! I want a piece. LOL.
Thanks Sarah! :goodvibes

I haven't had cake in months. OMG! My mouth just started watering. It looks great Leanne!
Thanks Megan! Didn't mean to make your mouth water. I was good and left it and the cupcakes alone. It was hard though. :rotfl:

That cake is AMAZING! You are super talented!!
Thanks Julia! :goodvibes

AMAZING cake! :thumbsup2
Thanks Michelle! :goodvibes

Awesome cake-so fun! Hope your "Give a Day" went well. Also hope you can get back to your 5k program soon.

Thanks Mary! The event went really well. Hope to have an update on that tomorrow after I get the pics from the coordinator.

I probably could have started running again today but we went geocaching instead. We found 5 treasures today and did a LOT of walking. It was fun.

Hope you've had a nice weekend!

Wow! That is one beautiful cake! Mmm...cake!!! If I could reach through the screen I'd eat the whole thing!
Thanks Alicia! I hear it was really good - I was a good girl and didn't indulge. :lmao:

Hey girl! I just found this and read pretty much the WHOLE thing just now! Yikes! Dh says I'm totally obsessed if I am reading PRE-trip reports- he just doesn't get it!
Anyway, I just wanted to say Hi and I'm glad I found ya now that I'm back a little more.
Hi Brandi! Thanks for stopping by! :welcome: Glad to see you're back. I will have to stop by your PTR and see what you're up to. :goodvibes

I hope Josie is doing better! That just sounded so incredibly painful!!

:welcome: McFarlands to DIS :disrocks: I hope you find lots of good tidbits here on DIS :goodvibes:

You all are going to have such a great time getting together for DIS meets and the GG!!!

:yay: :yay: Double digits!!!!! :yay: :yay:

Grow Josie Grow!!! Don't forget shoes count in there too ;)

cute pictures from the softball day and so cute are the pictures for the Cinderella night!! Love the gold sparkly ears--Lilian would eat those up!

(what cupcake pans do you use--those look really interesting!!) Love how perfect the icing is on the cupcakes!!

Hooray for Fairy Godmail!! Do the girls love getting mail? Lilian is too cute--she just loves it when she gets it.

Gorgeous cake!! So cute :)
Hi Stephanie! Hope things are going well for you. :goodvibes

We've had a lot of fun the last couple of weeks! The cupcakes were in trays from my carrier. I have a three tiered carrier that holds 3 dozen cupcakes. The trays stack onto one another. No special pan just a regular one you can buy anwhere. :goodvibes

When I saw those gold ears I knew the girls would love them. They love bling.

My girls most definitely go crazy over mail. They think they are hot stuff when something comes for them. It's so cute.

Thanks for the compliments on the cake. It's fun when the completed product turns out how you envision. Tonight I'm making a tutu for Josie. It's my first....we'll see how that goes. :lmao:

Hi Leanne!! Hope all is well!! I cant wait to hear more about the Give a day. I want to do that. I just dont know if my kids are too little or maybe it is something Myles and I can do together if Owen is too little!

Hello Leanne!
Great job on the cake! sounds delish too!!!

Thanks Connie! :goodvibes GAD was awesome!

You always do such a great job on the cakes, I wish I was that talented.
Thanks so much! You are that talented Lessa! Just need to take a quick class to learn the basics and then anyone can do it. It's a fun hobby. :goodvibes

So the update you've been waiting for...:goodvibes

I signed us up for this activity well over a month ago. We were volunteering at a Long Term Care Center in Nashville. Disney only recognizes volunteers 6 years and up and then you have to find an opportunity for a person this age. There are lots of opportunities for 14 and up but it's slim pickens with the young kids.

This particular opportunity appealled to me because even though Josie wasn't old enough to qualify for a pass, they would let her participate and that was just fine with us. We wanted to do this as a family. Once Jay and Leona committed to going we signed them up to participate as well.

Our opportunity was this Saturday Feb. 20. We held a party for the residents on level 3 of the center. Leona and I made 6 dozen cupcakes and a huge container of icing on Thursday night. Leona took the cupcakes home and froze them until Saturday morning. (This is a great trick for preserving freshness....seal them up as soon as they cool and then freeze them but I digress). I brought all of my coloring pastes and we both picked up tons of different sprinkles to bring with us. After cupcakes we had a little foam craft we picked up.

We arrived at the center right at 1:00pm. The volunteer coordinator for the facility was such a sweet lady....and a big Disney fan too. She brought a cart and we loaded all of our stuff up and took it up to the room. Josie was being shy at first but she quickly adapted and buddied up with a few of the ladies. The people on this floor have the best mental and physical state of the facility. They were incredibly awesome people. I have to admit that I think we all fell in love with them. :goodvibes

We started by letting folks pick a cupcake (white, chocolate, or yellow). Then we asked them what color icing they wanted. We put some in a bowl and I colored it to the color of their choice. Then the residents could put it on their cupcake....some just ate the icing right out of the bowl with the plastic knife we gave them...too cute.

Here's a pic of Leona helping Josie put icing on a cupcake for a resident that asked them to put the icing on for them.

We made hearts after everyone was done with cupcakes. The girls helped the residents bling them up and then personalized them for them. The residents seemed to really enjoy the craft too.

This little guy ate 7+ cupcakes..... He was in heaven! In this pic Jay and Lexie are helping him with the craft.

One of the residents asked Lexie to make the heart out to her Mom and Dad-she was looking for them. Is that not the sweetest and saddest thing you've ever heard? :sad2:

Look at my shy little Josie socializing and helping out....

I don't have a picture of me, Joe or Preston helping...mostly because I was being held hostage by this visitor that kept telling me how he used to sing on Broadway and was going to marry Taylor Swift. I finally escaped him one time and he began to chat up Leona. When he asked her to feel his muscles she split. :lmao: He had a girlfriend on the floor. She was really, really sweet. Apparently they've been together for 35 years. I'm not quite sure how Taylor fits into that picture. :rotfl2:

I think if you took a poll this very sweet and sassy lady was everyone's favorite. She was a pistol. I think she had a thing for Joe. They picked at each other almost the entire time.

Shortly around 3:30pm the coordinator told us we had really done a great job and encouraged us to get going. We offered to mop the floor etc., and she would not have it. We gave some hugs and said some goodbyes and right before we were leaving, this really sweet lady looked at me and said "honey I hope you will come back.". That nearly broke my heart. :sad1: Needless to say I've already been in contact with the coordinator to set something else up.

The coordinator told us on the way home that she's had families from Michigan, Arkansas, Kentucky, Georgia and some other locations contact her about opportunities. She is really trying to work with everyone she can. She said the residents are having such a good time with the interaction. She did tell us that a family from Florida contacted her and told her that she WOULD have something for them to do at 8pm on a Saturday night when they got into town :scared1:.....there's always one bad apple isn't there!!

What a great day! Look at little Ms J getting all in there with her shy self! Looks like a really fun day for ALL involved.

Great for all of you! :thumbsup2 Sounds like ya'll had a good day, and I'm sure all the residents enjoyed ya'll being there.

That story about the little man who thinks he's going to marry Taylor Swift is too funny!
