Heading back to Princess Josie's Castle-An AKV May 22-29 PTR-TR Started 6/3!

YAY FOR MAY!!! It's hard to believe that we'll be at WDW in less than 3 weeks!! Sorry I've been MIA but with our move things have been VERY busy here!! Catching up on your PTR now!! :goodvibes LOVE the Tiana cake BTW!! :lovestruc

Hi Becky! Thanks on the cake! Glad to see you back and I totally understand about moving! I'm so excited for this trip! After all the flooding this past weekend, I'm really hoping that Mother Nature got all the rain out of her system and we will have blue sunny skies in three weeks. I'm so very ready to get to WDW!!!

Oh no!! I'm so sorry, Leanne!! We've had major flooding here in Memphis as well.

Thanks Becky! The flooding has really disrupted things around here. School is out today and who knows if we will have it tomorrow. I drove Joe's truck in this morning and some areas that were okay yesterday are really bad today.

I was just about to come and post to see how you faired with the bad weather. I sure hope that you don't have to buy a new vehicle. Maybe your van will turn over.

On a lighter note, your cake turned out great even if you think it looked thrown together.

Thanks Lisa on the cake...

The weather was nasty and a lot of folks are in a bad way today. It could have been worse and maybe this is God's way of forcing me to buy something a little newer. I keep telling myself that anyway. ;)

Hey! Leanne
trying to catch up...started going back the other night; I'm sure I missed some things but
first: glad to hear you guys are doing OK in all the water; sorry to hear about your van...maybe it just needs a fluid drain and new fluids :upsidedown wouldn't it be nice if it were that easy...

second: both cakes came out great, although it did seem to give you a hard time...I guess it would cost me a small fortune in A/C to work with fondant if it does not do well in humidity :rotfl2:

third: I love those little crayon roll ups; that is too cute! and I really like the stroller you chose Ashton really appreciated having his this past week! and so did we

and finally, YOU GUYS HANG IN THERE DISNEY IS ALMOST HERE! :mickeyjum

We will hang in there Connie! We are pretty tough around here.

Thanks for the kind words on all of our recent happenings.

I'm sure we will love the new stroller when we get to Disney. It has to be a ton better than our big stroller that was part of a travel system.

Hey Leanne!!! Sorry to hear about your van, but it'll be alright!! Hopefully you're not totally floating away!!! Man, ya'll with the rain, Dana with the oil.....what's next? Or do I really wanna know that one!? Stay safe my friend!!!

Sorry to hear about the van. I know it sucks to know you are going to have to buy one when you weren't planning to do it.

I don't think we want to know...I hope this is the end of crappy lucky. :lmao: It's kind of nasty around here....so many people's homes have been damaged and there have unfortunately been a few deaths. Why can't people use some common sense??? We are trying to stay safe Christie! Thanks for checking on us.

Sorry to hear about the van. I know it sucks to know you are going to have to buy one when you weren't planning to do it.

I truly was wanting to wait until the fall as that's the best time to buy last years model at the best price. Oh well, guess God had another plan in mind. I've been car shopping tonight. I've got my eye on a Ford Edge or an Acura MDX. I like the crossover. I've loved my van but Joe hates it so I'm compromising with a crossover MOST likely. :goodvibes

Leanne, I am so sorry to hear about your van :sad1:. I'm glad to know that ya'll are safe though. The tornadoes and flooding has been so bad. I think we all need this vacation, I'm trying not to get too depressed about all that is going on, but it sure is hard to get excited when so much is happening :sad1:.

The cake turned out great :thumbsup2. You are so talented and very patient, I have decided that I don't have what it takes to make something so precise. I am an instant gratification kinda gal.........:rotfl:.

Good to hear from you. Very sad to remember those beautiful pics you took back in Dec and see all the damage now :sad2: Love both those vehicles. You ae going to be one cool mama :hippie: or :cutie: or :cool2: just not:sick: now you are :scared1:

:banana::banana::banana::yay::yay::yay:

Wanted to post earlier but the boards were giving me fits at work.....

Anyway here's the whole scoop on the van.

I was heading to pick up the girls yesterday morning. They had stayed at my Ex-SIL's with my niece for a birthday sleepover. Well, I literally ran into A LOT of water. Here's what it looked like on our road...

I made it through this with no issues at all. I turned down another road leading to town and came across another part of the road like the last picture above. I watched a small BMW car go through it with no problem. I figure my Toyota Sienna should be fine right?? :confused3 I get about 3/4 of the way through and here comes this idiot in a big truck with big tires and a lift kit, blazing at me. The guy flies through and creates a bunch of wake. The wake starts slamming my van so I lightly hit the accelerator to get out of there because I feel like I lost traction for a minute. I make it another 3-5 feet and the van dies. :scared1: Yep just shuts down in the middle of the road. I was literally 7 feet from the end of the water. Do you think Captain Cool stops? Why NO!! Just barrels through and keeps on going.

Luckily, another gentleman was coming towards the water and he stopped. He was SOOOOOOO nice and stayed with me until Joe could get there with the big truck and pull me out. He even offered me a sweatshirt to keep warm. He also kept vehicles from coming from that direction and slamming me and my van with water. SUPER GREAT GUY all the way!!

While Joe was hooking the tow strap to the front of my van, another braniac comes through and throws water all over him. I mean could you not see two vehicles facing you (Joe's and the car of the guy helping me) with their lights on and my vehicle facing away from you with the hazard lights on????? Anyway, we towed the van home. Joe took out the spark plugs and we turned it over. It threw water all over the back of the garage and the hood of van and locked up again.

She's gone I'm afraid. I sound so silly but I was really attached to that van. Until the water getting sucked into the engine there wasn't a thing mechanically wrong with it whatsoever. It never left me sitting, had almost 200k miles on it, and only required tires, a battery and a set of brakes in the many years I owned it. Nothing else ever went wrong with that van. :sad2: What makes me really mad is that even though I was considering purchasing something toward the end of the year, my van has absolutely no value now that it is locked up. A complete loss.

I am truly grateful that my van is the only loss we suffered this weekend. A lot of our friends and even my boss have had their homes damaged. We've even had a few deaths in the area. Very, very sad situation around here at the moment. Nashville got hit really hard also. Looks like Opryland was evacuated and some of the main places like the Wildhorse Saloon were significantly damaged.

I think this is a great video illustrating the water we're talking about (this is in Nashville)....

As much as I hate the idea of it, I did go car shopping tonight. Found a Ford Edge that I like and an Acura MDX. I really like the Toyota Venza but it's a new vehicle line for Toyota and being in the automotive world as long as I have I would NEVER buy a vehicle the first year it's manufactured. Even though they run a significant number of trials before launch, they are still working the bugs out on the assembly line and at their suppliers'. I am going to go again tomorrow night. Hopefully I will find "the one" in the next few weeks.

Have a great night and thanks for listening to me whine. :goodvibes
