very sad and happens way too often amongst teenagers. Can't tell you how many times this happens -- the driving age needs to be raised.

I agree!

Interesting article:http://msnbc.msn.com/id/8501174/

Here are some excerpts:
Using brain scans, NIH saw that teenagers' brains are not fully developed — particularly, the portions that regulate risk-taking and impulse control, crucial to driving. The process of the brain maturing are not complete until after the age of 20, four years after most teenagers start to drive.

A growing number of people think raising the driving age would save lives. They look to Europe, where in most countries you have to be 18 to drive and fatalities are much lower.

We lost our 16 year old nephew last year to a head on collision....he wasn't screwing around, they think he had a diabetic seizure while he was driving...the family didn't even know he had this condition. Please make sure that the school provides enough counselors for these kids. Not long after Adams accident, another girl was lost in another accident. They barely had time to recover from one accident and they were mourning another. Kids tend to hide alot of emotions and we saw alot of his classmates finally "break down" later down the road. Prayers and hugs to this family and his friends. Last weekend at Homecoming they honored both of these students, both sets of parents were asked to be Grand Marshalls in the Homecoming parade and they dedicated a float to Adam and Alley. A year later and these kids still have this on their mind.

my dd's were there, along with many of their friends. the paper says over 700 people attended.
