Apparently when dh emptied the safe in our stateroom, he just grabbed the iPad and did not feel around. He left the pouch that had my rings in it - my anniversary diamond band, my Grandmother's anniversary diamond band, my Great-Grandmother's gold wedding band, the garnet that my Mom gave me for my 16th birthday...all special and meaningful. I called lost & found and of course it was not turned in. Someone got a very, very expensive gift. I am kicking myself for not going back to check it after he did. Please no flames, I am heartbroken.

It can take a time to be found and get to DCL at Celebration.

Those safes can be hard, at things get left at the back or under the bottom cloth in them. I have a small bag to put things in it to stop that.

Hopefully they will now have a good look, maybe still there unnoticed.

Slightly different, when we went into a stateroom, a wave phone was missing, we reported it and got a new one. In the deep clean day, the stateroom host found it in the sofa bed, under the bit where top and bottom hinge, funny he told us, he found not one but two and couldn't recall who lost the other one.

Call DCL regularly hopefully it will turn up.

Why not post here

The cruise/ ship/ date/ stateroom number, someone may be in it now and reading this.

Oh this is just heartbreaking. I don't care how much they are worth, I can't imagine anyone being so low to not turn it in.
Best of luck to you and please keep us updated.

So sorry for you. Check with lost and found. I had left a small packing cube of items in the room and didn't realize it until a few weeks later. Lost and found had it and sent it to me. Hoping for the same for you.

I am so sorry. :( I hope that someone turned them in and it is just taking them a bit longer to get them back to you.

Hope you get them back. But be sure to get a report from Disney stating thSt you called about them and they were not found. Your insurance company will want that when you file a claim. I lost an expensive watch on a cruise once. My insurance company requested what essentially was a police report from the cruise line. And I do hope they were insured.

I am so sorry to hear this :-( you poor thing. I would also check out eBay etc and report it to the police in case anyone attempts to sell them. Do you have any photos? That might be useful.

It is most likely the guests who were in the room after you (not to point fingers). I would beg disney to contact the family and offer them a reward in case they "accidentally" picked them up. I say this because two times we have found things in the safe left by the family before us (I am assuming). We turned them to guest services even before the safety drill. At guest services they were so so thankful that we turned them in. They were as you described small things you would forget to grab: a usb and a SIM card. So I am under the impression that the stateroom hosts do not do a very thorough look through the safe when turning over the room.

I cannot imagine your heartbreak when you realized you didn't have them! I truly hope they will turn up and be returned to you. :shamrock:

oh so sorry! I would be heartbroken as well. I could never find and keep something like that if it did not belong to me. Bad karma to keep something from another. I hope your items are found soon. Keep checking!

For sure do this. We left some jewelry in the safe in a small box. I didn't realize it for a few weeks. It ended up the family in the room after us took it home with their stuff and didn't realize it wasn't theirs - husband grabbed it out of the safe thinking it was his wife's. Once they got home didn't realize they had it for a few months. Thankfully when they discovered it they remembered where the mistake happened and contacted Disney who were able to contact us because we had called and left the information that we had lost it. Don't give up strange things can happen. Hoping for similar pixie dust for you!

Yes! This! They know who stayed in that room after you and they have their contact information. There are ways they can approach them without sounding accusatory. The room steward is also supposed to check the safe as part of the room turn around, are they not? Maybe he/she found them and got busy and forgot to turn them in? Also see if you can find any cruise groups for that sailing and ask the group leader to post in that group what was lost and in what room. I hope they turn up. So sorry, I'm sure you're heartbroken.

I hope you get them back! Just wanted to add, in 12 DCL cruises I/we have never used the safe in the cabins. It might not necessarily be the cruisers directly after you who had access. Posts like these make me want to start checking the safe for others who might have left something and not known as I would take the items directly to Guest Services.

I just wish more people would have a sense of it's not mine, it means something to someone and simply turn the items in, no matter what it is. So frustrating and I'm sure you feel the same way.

Hope it works out for you!

Heather

How do you do this? I called, but I did not think to ask of any verification. The girl that I spoke at lost and found e-mailed the ship to see if they might still be on board.

That is a good idea. I had not thought of that. I have photos of us from the cruise and you can easily see the rings on my fingers. Any place else that I should look?

Also a good idea. I will be sure to ask them when I hear back from them.

There is a lost and found on social media sites it has worked well for a lost media card and several families on the wrong photo package.
Also contact threads of the next few sailings AFTER yours by looking at the Meet and Greet sites. Ask if anyone had your room, perhaps in the FE list.
I'm sorry this happened to you. We also had the same problem but with 2 day old Rose Gold Kabana Earings that my husband insisted stay in the safe instead of her ears. He also left her earings in the safe. Grrr.
