HDDR: How bad are the bad tables?

We still haven't made ressies for HDDR yet. So we're worried that if we get in, we'll have bad tables. In which case we'd probably save this experience for a future trip that we'll have more time to plan out. This trip is our honeymoon, so I'm not worried about trying to squeeze everything in.

So can you help us by explaining how far away from the stage the bad tables are?

I can only reply based on our experience in '96...but doubt that much as changed.....we booked fairly late and were seated in the balcony section.....
While we were not "in the middle of the action"...we had a wonderful experience....(awesome is actually a better word)....
AND....it wouldn't hurt to mention that it is your honemoom when you make your reservations........
Don't let your fears of having a "bad seat" keep you from attending the HDDR....I doubt there's a "bad seat" anywhere.....

I just had to reply to your question. We booked 2 months in advance and had the last table in the back on the main floor. Like much of the seating at HDDR there are some chairs that face"the wrong way" at your table and you need to turn them to see the show. This is easily remedied. A much bigger problem to me is being relegated to those 2 or 3 tables in the VERY back near the door. We listened to a mother in tears because they could not see the show at all despite being on stools. We also witnessed a family who had made their ressies very early on but showed up a bit late for the meal and their prime seating was given away. They ended up at an inferior table. At HDDR there doesn't seem to be any recourse if your table is not to yoour satisfaction because the seating is completely preassigned. SO- Get to FW on time and enjoy the event, we did! We've been in the balcony once and several different places on the first floor. All our seats have been fine. Most of the action is on the stage which is...elevated!! They do sing one song from the center of the floor but everyone should be able to see it. The entire hall is not that big. I'm sure that mother in tears affected her family's enjoyment much more than where their table was. Once we were in the back corner and it was still fine for us.

I agree...mention your honeymoon when you make your PS. Have fun!

I would mention being on your honeymoon also. When DH and I were there in May of 2001, our Dreams agent noted that we were celebrating our 10 year anniversary and we were seated at the honeymoon table which was front row centerstage!!! I was thrilled. Our ressies were only made about 3 months in advance too so I was quite surprised. You can make Hoop ressies up to a year so I thought sure tables like that would have been gone. They were great seats and everyone in the show stopped by to say thank you because they hadn't heard anyone laugh like I did that night. That's how they knew they were doing their job.
Good luck to you and mention the honeymoon. If when you arrive they tell you you're at table #13, you got it....CENTERSTAGE!! I'll never forget that table number...one because it's on the pic we took and two...because it was a memorable evening.

We also had the last table by the door. It really wasn't that bad at all. We were all able to see the stage (2 chairs had to be turned around). I don't think we felt cramped at all, because there was no one behind us. Everyone in the place, including the balcony all seemed to have a good time! Enjoy your honeymoon, whatever you decide to do and CONGRATULATIONS!!

I booked 3 months out and mentioned it was our 3rd anniversary. We were seated in the front table center (#13 as Tiggerlover91 mentioned). I do remember a childhood trip where we were seated in the middle of the room, and the view/experience was great there, too!

Another tip, call Pioneer Hall in advance and ask how booked they are for the day you're going. When I did this the CM suggested I change from the 7:30pm show to the 5pm show because it had few reservations. Apparently they give better seats to early bookings and also to early arrivals... so, if you can make a ressie for the least booked show AND arrive early on that day, you should do okay.
Also, if you're flexible, ask about other days.

Here's our story -- in May my DW and I went to HDD as part of our anniversary celebration trip. We booked the show a little over a month in advance. We were prepared to sit in the balcony or in the back. When we arrived, we were surprised that our table was in the front left side.

Since it was just my DW and I we were seated at a 2-person table. So for your honeymoon, you may find yourself at the same table.

In October 2000, I booked only 6 weeks ahead, and we were center stage, 3 rows back. Perfect seats, we thought, as we didn't have to crane our necks to see the stage.
