I know you can make PS for HDD 2 years in advance.

To get a seat/table on the main floor in front....

Is it decided by the date you made your PS - ie the
earlier date closest to 2 years before the ressie,
get the best seats ?
-or-
I know you can pick up your tickets 7 days before
the show you are seeing.
Are seats/tables assigned when the tickets are picked-up,
ie closest to 7 days in picking up gets the best seats.
-or-
Is it first come/best table - when you check in at the
podeum a the HDD, is your seat/table assigned ?

I would like to know
This way I can plan the HDD for the beginning of our
trip or end of our trip.

We did the HDD 2 yrs ago - made PS 12 mths in advance and
picked up our tickets 7 days before. We had a table in the
front.

We did the Spirit of Aloha this past May. Made our PS 4 mths
in advance, picked up the tickets the day before and
our table was center, front.

I do not know if we were just lucky - or- stumbled on the
right thing to do.

Please advise. ;)

I don't know the "official" answer to your question - but I thought I'd share "my" experience.

I made our reservations last August for a show in mid-October - for two adults.

We checked in to FW the morning of the show.

Our table # was printed on the paperwork I got at the Front Desk...

Our table was DEAD center in the FRONT row...

You may get different opinions. I was told it was when you made your reservation. i made mine over a year before our trip last August, table for 5, and we were in the front row, up against the stage.

pooh2001,
I will chime in with mine and DW seating arrangements. DW got ressies 9 - 10 months in advance two of three trips to HDD. The ones made way in advance were right against the stage. The last made 1 month in advance was in the back of the hall, 1st floor.

I would assume that time does make a difference.

Our experience is this:
The last two times we have gone was on our anniversary. We made our reservations at least 6 months in advance and have for the last two times now got left of center, table for two front row.
How about that, same table! They each time have singled us out so I think this table is for newly weds or anniversaries. Hope this helps...smjj

i asked the cm when i book it about a month ago for august and he said it was based on when you pick it up (but maybe he was just trying to sell me?) anyways, i can let you know where we get seated -- we will be picking up the tickets 7 days before our show. :)

Every time I have called I have been told that it's based on when the reservation is made not when the tickets are picked up.

I believe it is based on when you book the PS. We booked 9 mos. out and picked up our tix the day before the show. We were second row center. By the way, we were there 2 weeks ago and really enjoyed the show! Have fun!

First time I booked HDD it was 18 monthes in advance (for week of New Years 2000)! Of course our party changed about a month before we left for WDW and I called Disney dining to have a person taken out of our PS.

The CM asked me if I was sure I wanted to do that because we had great seats and if I changed anything they would cancel and re-make the reservations.

Needless to say, we went to HDD, told them one of our party was sick and couldn't make it - and we were two tables from the stage - all 12 of us!

So I'd say it is based on when you make the ressies!

For our next trip, I booked the Luau 14 months in advance. Let's see where we end up for that show!
