Hi!

I posted this on teh WISH board but thought some of you might know here.

I am looking to do the HCG diet again (have done it twice) and our local place has increased their price so I wanted to get it online. Has anyone ever bought it online? What is a reputable website?

Thanks!

If you have done it twice and it didn't work why are you trying it again? Third time's a charm? :confused3 Maybe you should try something different that doesn't have the word "diet" in it? More exercise and healthy eating seems to be the thing that consistently works and its not a fad. It has stood the test of time.

Yes, I know that didn't answer you questions.

ETA: I googled it. Wow why would anyone do this to themselves?

I have done the diet twice, last year. That combined with exercise, I have lost almost 65 pounds. I read up on it before I did it, considered the risks and I decided to try it. I don't regret it one bit. I have not gained any weight back and I do in fact exercise every single day but I have had a recent knee injury so I haven't been able to keep the exercise up.

I realize that this diet is not for everyone, but I myself have done it and am thrilled with the results.

There are plenty of message boards dedicated to this...I would look on those sites.

I found them b/c DH has chosen to take HCG to mitigate the negative effects of a pituitary tumor which severely impacted his testosterone production...his endo wanted his body to start making it again, and didn't want to give him plain old testosterone (as that would help him feel more manly but would cause sterility during the time he was taking it). Despite the fact that drugs.com has a big warning saying that you can't lose weight with HCG, DH's endocrinologist was pretty firm on the concept that he very likely WOULD lose weight while taking it.

Anyway, taking the HCG isn't a picnic, and I can't imagine injecting a drug just for dieting purposes...seems diet and exercise might help just on their own!

But if you really must use the HCG, like I said, there are plenty of websites and message boards all about it with suppliers and everything. Just don't go abroad with it...DH didn't even think about whether it would be legal, took it on a business trip along with his other drug for the pituitary tumor, and it was ONLY the fact that it had a prescription label on it that they didn't throw it away (or do worse, as having it without a prescription is ILLEGAL in that country). Whew!

I am sorry but this is WRONG. HCG is not made to help people lose weight. It is a fertility drug and people using it this way makes the supply go down and the price go up. I have to pay out of pocket for all fertility treatments and my HCG which I need to ovulate and it is getting more and more expensive and hard to find. My last cycle I had to order it through a special online pharmacy and still almost didn’t get it in time.:sad2:
Get out and exercise and watch what you eat!!!! I have PCOS which makes it next to impossible to lose weight without a lot of work. if I can do it you can too!! I need this medication due to pituitary gland issues. Without it I will not ovulate. I have been trying to have a baby for 3 years and it’s ridiculous that people use this medication this way. I am sorry about your knee, but there has to be a better way!

If you are only eating 500 calories per day, wouldn't you lose weight regardless of whether you injected hormones into your system or not??????

That scares me:scared1: I have done weight watchers and changed the way I eat now, combine that with daily excercise.

Umm... yeah. I agree. My hubby wanted me to research it for him because he had heard something about it. It's sooooooo dangerous and i flat out told him NO WAY!!!
my hubby has been in PT for a torn ACL and has finally come off profile. (army) He needs to lose a lot of weight now, so we got him to the nutritionist and a new PT schedule to take off the weight.

Thanks for all the feedback. I know that most people don't understand unless they have actually done the diet themselves. I am not going to lecture anyone about their choices and this works for me and it is my choice.

I will never understand diets like this. Losing weight is not easy, but it can be done wihtout injecting yourself with HCG or anything else. It's called eating healthier and exercising. Calories vs calories out.

I'm glad you were able to lose 65 lbs; that is great, but if you want to lose more weight, why don't you try exercise that doesn't aggraavate your injury or try eating better? Do you count calories or watch what you eat in any way?

I get my cat's meds at a compounding pharmacy and the last time I was there, the woman in front of me was picking up HCG. She looked well beyond childbearing, so I was curious. When I got to the counter, I said, "HCG? I used that when I was undergoing fertility treatments." The worker said, "Everyone is using it for the HCG diet now and we're having a hard time getting it. The infertility patients who normally get it here have been in a panic trying to find it." I told her I could understand that because the HCG shot has to be time perfectly or the entire cycle is a loss. I cannot imagine how I'd feel if my chance at a baby was ruined (along with the loss of thousands and thousands of dollars) because I couldn't get my hands on HCG due to a diet craze. :headache:

Good luck chrissyt27! :thumbsup2

You didn't answer my question: if you are only eating 500 caliroes per day on the diet (which I read on the site someone linked) wouldn't you still lose weight without the hormones??????

I was going to skip this one and not comment but I had to. I have been back and forth with weight loss my whole life. I played football and would be 245 lbs in the fall in high school and drop to 210 for baseball in the spring. I continued to see saw my whole life. I am now 50 years old and have done weight Watchers and Atkins with success. Loose 50 lbs gain 50 lbs. Fortunately I never went for any of the way out there stuff like pills or shots.

Finally a heart attack (thankfully very minor but a wake up call all the same) brought me back into focus. Weight loss is very simple more calories out than come in and you loose weight. That is a fact period end of sentence. If you read about a diet that lets you eat whatever you want and still loose weight, run do not walk away as fast as you can. Secondly I never use the word diet anymore. It denotes a temporary condition and because of my heart and the fact I want to stick around for a while I refer to my situation as a lifestyle change not a diet. Since December I have lost 50 pounds by eating right (very little fat, low sodium, right sized portions, and no unhealthy snacking) and exercising (walking, stair stepper, weights, swimming).

The key to remember with any of these fad diets is 1) nine times out of ten someone is making money because you are paying for the shot, the pill, the food, the book, or the DVD. I pay no one for the weight I have lost. 2) since this obsession with weight and all the products made available in the last 20 years we have absolutely no idea what the long term effect they will have on our bodies. Granted many people who sell these products tout FDA approval that means nothing because all the FDA is saying is it's safe for consumption not that it works, and not that it won't have long term effects. 3) Read the fine print on most of the products. It says results will occur if this product is used with a calorie restricted diet and exercise program. WOW! No kidding? Wouldn't it work without your product and the cost of it if I just restricted my calories and exercised without taking your pills or shots?

I will never know if my heart attack was prompted by my past diet habits but since I had very high triglycerides and had lost weight more than once in my life on Atkins by eating a high fat protien rich diet and avoiding all carbs I can probably safely deduce that it could have had a lot to do with it.

For the sake of your health and the sake of your loved ones try dieting the old fashion way, eat less, eat better, exercise more and do it for the rest of your life.

I order my hcg from alldaychemist. And I don't inject it, I take it sublingually! Works like a charm too. I just finished my first round and lost 18lbs! There is a great forum that won't berate you for your choices, like the disboards. It's called 4hcgsuccess (google it).

This "diet" has been around sense the 1950's and if you follow the protocal to a T it really works but hey do what you wanna do and leave me alone! It's not an easy diet for sure, so were not taking the easy way out either. My Endo encourage me to start this diet because I had my thyroid taken out and my levels were normal and I still wasn't losing weight with diet and excerise.

LOL, that's two endocrinologists mentioned in this thread who have mentioned it as being a help.

As I said, DH isn't taking it for diet, but his endo is very hopeful that it will help (along with it doing what the endo has prescribed it for), as he has seen nice weight loss in people taking it for other reasons...

Oh, and how is HCG hard to find? DH gets it from our insurance's specialty pharmacy every month, easy as pie. Does Aetna have a special stockpile of it? Strange.

Come down off your high horse before you hurt yourself....
Please people, get ahold of yourselves. Give the OP a break. Holier than thou much?

I myself, have not tried the HCG diet, but to each his own. There are a lot of off label uses for a lot of medications. DId you know Rogaine was supposed to be a blood prssure med, and people realized that growing hair was a side effect? Weight loss may be a side effect of HCG and eventually people will see one way or another. But who are you to judge?

The only time you should ever use a hormone is if you are deficient in it to bring you up to a "normal" level. Using hormones for other purposes can do more harm than good. Using them in a way that nature hasn't intended can cause your body to either stop making that hormone on it's own or it can throw off the delicate balance in your body which leads to multiple issues. Hormones of any sort should NEVER be used without the close eye of the prescribing physician.

Making sensible life changes is the only way to safely lose weight and get healthier. There is no quick fix. If sensible changes don't work (and they don't work for some) then look for a medical reason with your physician.

Good luck.

Thank you dakcp2001. I am the OP. I came here to ask a simple question. I didn't come here to get a lecture. If I wanted a lecture I would have put that in my post's title. I realize that diet and exercise will give you weight loss. I have been exercising for months and months and it is my choice to use HCG to lose the rest of my weight. Plain and simple. My choice, my money, my decision.

I know where some of you are coming from with frustration having to take hormones to try to conceive. I had problems with that myself. But the product I came here to ask about is widely available and that is what I am going to use.

And for the poster asking about doing the 500 calorie diet without the shots. I have tried that too. You are hungry all the time and using the HCG promotes fat loss in a different way so it shapes your body differently, you dont' have skin just sagging there. This has been around since the 50's people, that is over 50 years.

Thanks tikylyn for the message board info, I am heading over there right now to check it out! I am glad that there is at least one person who is not jumping down my throat for asking a question.

I am sorry if I sound cranky, but I have seen so many threads with people coming to ask a question and have people jump all over them judging them and preaching to them. I would never post something like that, if I read a thread I don't agree with, I just pass it over. It is not my place to judge.

So if you want to go ahead and flame me, you go for it! My fire extinguisher is right here next to me.

.

I feel like lately all the threads have just deteriorated. There are a lot of miserable people in the world, and I guess they reap self esteem from annonymously berating people on message boards. It is kind of sad.You know in real life these people would never have the gall to say it to your face. And I bet they are not as perfect as they think they are either.

I guess you may look at it as preaching, but those of us that have said things for the most part, have said it out of concern for your health and anyone else out there that might be thinking of doing this diet.

If you haven't lived with hormone issues, you have no idea how devastating they are. I don't understand why someone would want to tamper with the endocrine system if they didn't have to just to lose weight.
