I think this might be the place, at last!!! Can anyone tell me if they have stayed here and what it's like? How far is it from DTD? Thank you all so, so much.

Which Hawthorn Suites are you considering? We stayed at the Hawthorn Suites - Seaworld, last month for a few days. For the price it was great. The hotel was slighly in need of refurbishing, but nothing major. The pool area was very nice and the free breakfasts are hot and changed daily, but they had eggs and sausage and stuff like that. If you have any questions (if this is the location you are considering) let me know.

I stayed there in May of 2001, I got a great rate from HOTELKINGDOM.COM

The room was clean, nice and comfortable. The bathroom was big and you can access it from the bedroom or from the living area. There was a full size fridge, dishwasher, microwave etc...
The air conditioning worked well, we were actually cold a few nights and had to keep turning it down.

The breakfast buffett was nice, there seemed like a good assortment. I'm not a big breakfast fan, but my husband and 2 sons ate it every morning.

The pool is not big but adequate, there is a hot tub and basketball courts.

The managers reception was o.k. I think beer and wine and some light snacks.

Palm Parkway is a nice area, quiet, and a quick drive to DD and the parks.

I would stay there again.

Any other comments on the SeaWorld location? We are seriously considering booking this hotel but I want to be sure before I do.

Thanks,
Mike

What would you like to know. I stayed at the Seaworld location in the middle of June.. I was very pleased with the hotel for the price I paid. The kitchen is more of a kitchenette with a 1/2 size fridge located under the counter, a 2 burner stove and a 1/2 sized dishwasher. It also had a microwave.. We had a one bedroom and it had 2 double beds and a tv in the bedroom and a fold out couch and another tv in the living room. The hotel was clean, the breakfast was awesome. I will say this property is in slight need of a rennovation. It was nothing major, but it just needed freshening up. But we got an incredible rate and I was much more than satisfied. The pool was pretty nice too, we spent an afternoon there.

One question I have...is there pots, plates, etc or should we bring those? Thanks for the review, I feel better booking it now.

Thanks,
Mike

They had Corelle plates and silverwear and glasses in the room. However, I think there were only a set of 4 which I thought was a little strange since the room slept 6 technically. (We were only a party of 4 though and one was a 16 month old..) I am sure housekeeping would bring more if the need arose.. They also had, if I remember correctly, 2 Pyrex sauce pans. I don't remember seeing any larger pots. The Sauce pans were enough to warm up soup, and maybe spaghetti and stuff like that. I forgot to mention that the room also had a 4 cup coffee maker and I think a toaster was in the cupboard, but we never used it so I don't recall for sure on the toaster.

The breakfast was hot and changed daily. They had bacon and sausage and ham on alternating days plus eggs every day and then had sausage and biscuits one day, southern style pototoes on another, stuff like that... They also had the standard cereal, toast, juices, etc.. The breakfast was really worth it.

Glad to hear about the breakfast. That is what caused me to switch from Country Inn at Calypso Cay for $50 p/n to the Hawthorn at $64 p/n. Well, that and the stove in the room so we can cook more. Thanks for the comments!

One more question if I may. I looked at the map at the hotel and it looks like it is close to the Bee Line expressway. Is it that close to hear the expressway?

Thanks again,
Mike :D

No problem! The hotel actually is located right next to the expressway. However, they have it situated that one of the parking lots is between the Expressway and the building, so the building is slightly set back from the expressway and there are a lot of large trees in that area if I remember right..... I am not sure about the noise in the rooms that would technically overlook that area, we weren't in that section.. The part of the hotel with the rooms is shaped like a big gigantic U surrouding the pool. The lobby is a building in front and closing off the front part of the 'U', if you follow me.. so the pool is completely enclosed by buildings..

We were in the absolute last room looking over the parking lot to the east... So at the farthest end of the "U" as you can get.. The Bee-line is on the north side of the building.. So we didn't hear it at all... We could kind of see it from an angle from the room, but we weren't in the room all that much.. Ask at checkin if you can have a room overlooking the pool, if they don't charge extra for those, and you won't have to worry about it at all.

Mike J-I saw you have a rate at Hawthorne Suites Seaworld of $64. I don't know what size room you are looking at, and I know the dates can play a factor, but I was quoted a rate of $55.OO through Hotelkingdom.com for earlier that month. Don't know if that site can help you. I have found they are usually the cheapest.

I checked Hotel Kingdom as well and got a quote of $58 per night, but since we are driving down and my trip may be cancelled, I didn't want to be responsible for the cancellation charge with Hotel Kingdom. I figured that for $6 per night more, it was worth it to book directly with the hotel. Thanks for the tip though :)
