I know I've heard someone say that there was a place to get Hawaiian Shave Ice with Mochi at the bottom. Does anyone know if you can get it on the resort, or maybe on Katella ?

I was just going to post here that you can find them in northshoremama's family's back yard (Haleiwa)! You knew you'd gather all the Hawaii peeps in this thread, didn't you? :lmao: I'll be keeping an eye on it, in case someone finds it in Cali!

I don't know for sure, but you are right. It seems like I have also read somewhere that you could get that. Let's think now. Where would be the most likely places to have that sort of specialty item? Okay, possibly at Yamabuki in the PPH. They would probably have it. Check their menu online. I guess the Lilo and Stitch buffet would not have that because it is breakfast only, right? If they have dinner too, then possibly there. That sounds more like something that would be found at DCA rather that DL, so if I had to guess, I would say DCA is more likely. But I have a hunch it can be found at Yamabuki in PPH. Let me know what you find out!

Thanks Sherry !

I checked, and nothing :(
Oh well. Don't worry though, I am DETERMINED. I'll either find one there or here where I live haha. Thanks for the great advice though!!! Whenever you post I can always expect a great answer or good help :)

Thank you! I always look forward to your posts as well, and I find that this darn Board is so addictiive BECAUSE I learn new bits of info every day from everyone here. I am always saying to myself, "Oh, I didn't know that!"

But you know, the more I thought about it after I posted that about Yamabuki, I am almost positive that I read it in a travel guide or book somewhere about Yamabuki having Mochi/shaved ice. Now, whether or not they STILL have it is to be determined - they might have stopped selling it - OR perhaps it is just not listed on the menu online but you might be able to get in in the restaurant. I am ALMOST certain that at one time they did sell it or something similar.

I had another thought, though an obvious one - have you checked with Disneyland Dining (the number for Priority Seating)? Thay might know. Because, again, if it is not in Yamabuki, I would think it is more likely in one of the places in DCA and not in DL. The dining folks OR Guest Services could probably tell you where to look in DCA.

OMG. You said mochi...

YUM!!!!!

I'm almost positive there isn't anywhere ON the resort that has it, (I would have eaten there already!!) but I'm sure there is somewhere on Harbor or one of the main streets that has a shaved ice place..

I want to find it now!

Meee tooo.

Believe me :) It was hot here yesterday and I don't have air conditioning so it stayed 87 degrees in my house until about 10:scared1: . Nottttt fun. Anything cold, sounds great!!!

Here is a link I found with some reviews of Yamabuki from two years ago. If you scroll down, you will see that Mochi is/was definitely served there (in fact I believe I read in another book a while back that there were Mickey-shaped Mochi balls at one point), but I don't know about now. As for the shaved ice, not sure about that.

THANKS :) I'll talk to the fammm about whether or not they're down for eating there !

You could find a Korean version if you're willing to go over to Garden Grove. It's called pat bing soo. Usually it has shaved ice, ice cream, mochi balls, fruit, milk, sometimes other stuff too, it depends on the shop.

Edit: I see there's a place called Yogurt d'Italia on Harbor near Katella. They might have shaved ice and mochi.

There's a place in Fullerton called Mocchilato that has shaved ice with fruit, syrups, etc, but I don't believe they include mocchi in it. They do have mocchilato, which is mocchi covered gelato. Very good! And non-ice cream mocchi items, too. But, not an easy place to get to from DLR. It think there's also one in Irvine, but it's not much easier to get to.

Oh shame. Thanks guys ! I guess I'm going to be researching over here:thumbsup2

Sounds like Yamabuki is the most likely option for shave ice, being a Japanese restaurant, and since they DO have Mochi. Again, I bet those Disneyland Dining experts know for sure where to find it.

ok now you all have to tell me what mochi is

my aunt and uncle LOVE hawaii and they named their dog mochi and I still dunno what it is

Mochi is a japanese ice cream treat. The outside of it is made from a rice paste that has a mild sweetness to them.

You can get them in many flavors; especially when you get them at asian markets. My mom is half Japanese and I found out about them through her. My favorite flavors are green tea and vanilla !

This is the brand I buy :

They sell them at Ralphs, I think. Well, they used to sell them there. Not sure if they are still sold there. I remember trying a sample of a green tea one from the samples lady. If the ones at Yamabuki are still Mickey-shaped, that would be really cute, and if you make it there to eat, Wazowski, you will have to take a picture of the Mickey mochi and post it here!
