It sounds like at Yamabuki, if they do have mochi it's like the mochi in your picture, Jasmine, sans the shaved ice... But still, it's still yummy! They have that brand you buy (we get that one too) at Trader Joe's. I've seen the green tea (my fav) and mango one..
We have a Japanese market here and they sell the mochi without the ice cream, and it's so so good. Ahh, amazing..
Speaking of mochi and shaved ice.. Do you guys have a Pinkberry up there? Or is it a SoCal thing? Pinkberry has YUMMY shaved ice and mochi.. Ohhh man..

) and I don't have sushi seaweed, so I'll pick up some green tea mochis while I'm there !!
It was good!!! We ate it at this Hawaiian BBQ chain we have here (L&L) and she never had it there so I got her one and she loved it and went home and made it!

I get plain with pineapple on top. YUM. sorry off topic!!! I will probably be shunned or something for this, but I have tried Mochi (same brand you buy) and could not stand it! LOL. I got the chocolate kind. Someone told me to put the whole thing in my mouth, but those things are BIG! LOL. I think I expected them to be about the length of a penny, lol. Maybe is it an acquired taste?
