We are thinking of doing the World Passport (or whatever you call it!) to go to Hawaii for one or two weeks ....Since we'd have to stay in one place rather than island hop like lots of Hawaii visitors, could anyone give us advice as to which resorts to request?

Thanks!

we stayed at the four seasons in maui..rented the mountian side room.. the beach is great for kids ..sea turtles 40 ft from shore..didn t use points paid cash:D

We traded for the Sands of Kahana for November. I didn't know about these boards yet though. It cost us 252 points for a 2 bedroom for 1 week. After this was all booked including flights, I discovered dis. I was on the rent/trade board and someone was looking to trade the same thing for only 150 points. There is a lot of info on these boards about renting your points and then paying cash also. I don't know when you are planning to go but I will post something when we get back as to how this all worked out.

I think Kapalua Bay on Maui is still on the concierge offerings but that's about 43 points a night for the cheapest. Pretty steep. We prefer condos in Hawaii for the kitchen.

Sands of Kahana is an option for an exchange on Maui, but no air-conditioning. So if the trade winds quit blowing it can get HOT. My sister stayed here last year and ended up buying fans for her bedroom when the trades quit blowing (mid May).

We are going back to Maui in April 2005. Right now we have a backup condo rented at the Maui Kai condos. At the Maui Kai after April 16th (value season) you get a night free for every 5 night stay. It's right next door to the Embassy Suites Maui (Embassy would be a nice exchange).

We prefer to just use our points at Disney and pay cash for Hawaii. I have used the Entertainment book 50% discount for hotels in Hawaii in the past. When we went in 2001 we used this discount at our Aston Mahana condo on Maui.

Perhaps Dean will reply to this post. He has a great knowledge about timeshares in general and especially Hawaii.

If you want to see an aerial view of the hotels you are thinking about, I recommend the books Maui Revealed, Kauai Revealed, Big Island, etc. The Revealed (wizardpub) website will let you look at aerial views of the hotels to get an idea of how close they are to the beach. If you buy the book, then the website lets you look at in depth reviews. Here's the website for the aerial pictures:

We really used our Maui Revealed book while on Maui. We used it on the Road to Hana to find Charles Lindbergh's grave (it would have been hard to find without the book).

Good luck!
