If you do the CC, that would be a ton of points. For II, it's very complicated and a big waiting game. Do a search for Hawaii and my name, that should answer your questions. If not, get back to me.

Yes, I used points for 8 nights at the Mauna Lani on the Big Island. As Dean said, it uses a fair number of points, but it was well worth it for a splurge. It was a special family occasion, so we were celebrating. :bounce: We had a terrific time and the Mauna Lani was paradise.

If you're interested, you can do a search with my name and "Mauna Lani", and you'll find a detailed trip report and a couple other threads where I posted details for other people.

Good luck!

This summer we did a private trade for a 2BR at the Hilton Hawaiian Village on Waikiki Beach. It was wonderful, but there was one problem. I now have the Hawaii bug. So next Dec we have a 1BR reserved through DVC/II for the Kona Coast Resort on the Big Island. We can't wait.

The Kona Coast resort on the Big Island is not difficult to trade into. Start 14 months or more ahead, and put in some other choices as well. Chances are that you'll be offered a trade at Kona Coast before you're offered trades to other resorts.

We're traveling there next spring and I plan to post a report. What I know so far is that the resort is well-reviewed, but that one must cross a golf course to get to the beach. Since Hawaii isn't the best island for beaching anyway (we're going for ranches and volcanoes) that might not matter to you.
