Hello. Just returned from Hawaii a few wks ago. Stopped by the new DVC resort area on Ohau. They were laying the pipes as of the first few days in August. It is a gated area and beautiful to say the least. The guards ok'ed us to check out the property. From there we flew over to the BIg Island and stayed on points at the Mauna Lani Resort and Spa. Great Resort. Very relaxing. Does anyone know why this resort is now longer available thru concierge? (think I spelled that last word wrong, Sorry)

Can't wait to return to Hawaii and check out a few more islands. Wish DVC would add a few more resorts as concierge though.

Thanks for the update. Glad to hear the project is underway.

Looking forward to vacation there:yay: I would love to go back to Hawaii and DVC would be a great way to go.

Did you take any pics that you could post? I am excited about a Hawaii DVC, but kind of wish it was on one of the other islands, like Maui.

didnt take any photo's because all that was there were some pipes laying on the ground. The area in which the resort is being built though, is a beautiful lagoon, with two hotels on either side. It is about 20 minutes from the airport on the west side of Ohau. It has a gate you must go through to get to the area. Similar to say the DVC resorts. There is some shopping malls nearby and also a HUGE water park about 10 minutes from the resort area. I agree though about how it would have been nice to have the resort on Maui. I think DVC was probably looking at it from the stand point that if it was located on Ohau, then it would mean less island hopping for families with small children. CAn't wait till it is finished, so I can go back. The flight is very long, and I could do without that:) Oh well, can't have everything.

Sue, an II exchange to Hawaii is much more economical point wise than the Concierge collection. We were able to do two weeks in Hawaii back to back on II exchanges, and then added 5 days on Oahu. We thought it was a VERY good way to do it, since we have also paid OOP for a couple of long Hawaii trips in the past. It just takes a lot more planning to do it with an exchange than with concierge collection.

Thanks for the update and so glad to hear they are doing something at the resort! It has been such a long time since anything was posted I wasn't sure what was going on with it. I'm looking forward to vacationing there someday! I'm glad to hear there is a water park close by too, my kids LOVE water parks!

Thanks for the update! We are actually considering purchasing a 160 point contract for Hawaii when it goes on sale! Glad to know that construction is a reality!
