Hawaii Under Tsunami Warning

I too am praying for those Pacific Coast, Hawaii, and Alaska. I know Hawaii is in the most danger. But all will be in my thoughts and prayers. As will those in Chile who have endured this major earthquake.

We have some friends who are in Waikiki right now. They posted on Facebook that they have been moved to the 5th floor of their hotel. They were asking all tourists to go to the 3rd floor or higher.

We're praying for their safety, as well as everyone in Hawaii and Chile.

Could be a scary situation, especially the southern facing beaches...which means our Aulani could be hit. Since it is sitting in a lagoon/bay the force of water could be greater than normal. Hoping the tsunami dissipates as it gets closer to HI, only time will tell. I really don't want my family and friends to be affected. Aloha.

Weather channel is advising the wave buoy data coming out of the Pacific near California is showing very little change However further out Southeast of Hawaii is showing "Significant movement" which lasted just under an hour! Depending on tides this wave could be minimal if low or extreme if higher If your in Hilo area or have family there serioulsy get the heck out now. To all who have family over there our family is thinking of you all:grouphug:.....Shawnpirate:

We are not too worried here. They are only predicting 1.5 ft surge on Oahu. The big island if expecting 7.5ft surge so that could do some damage. Also of anything the east sides of the island typically get hit worse. Hilo, Kahului, Hamakua, Hanalei. These places say the worst of it durring the tsunami in '60 that originated near today's earthquake. Aulani's on the west/southwest so id expect it to be ok...

OMG, DS will be on a cruise ship in LA headed to Hawaii in the morning, at least theoretically. A tsunami has its main impact in just a few hours, right? So if he leaves LA in the morning, the ship shouldn't be affected, I hope. Sounds like this won't impact him at all, but we Moms get scared about things.

We had such a warning in 1998 when there. The largest rise was 18 in at the Big Island, around 6 inches everywhere else. However, you never know how strong it is with the Tsunami until it hits something.
