Hawaii or Disneyworld, FL??

That sure is one tough choice. My husband wants to go to Hawaii for Christmas this year :scared1: We have a timeshare he has been dying to use, but somehow we just keep ending up in WDW :rolleyes1
Good Luck!

Hi, we have been to both. I have been to disneyworld several times with my kids and we went to Hawaii last year both ds and dd fell in love and want to go again and again.

I know u have been to Disneyworld but have you been to Hawaii ever. It not, i would choose Hawaii at least once for the experience.

Can you see if you can maybe get lowers fares at aiports that are further from Michigan? and maybe you can drive and park to another Major airport. $1000 pp is very expensive.

I wish you were here in Houston,Lost Angeles,San Franscisco,New York City U can easily gets fares under $500 .
:)

WE went to Hawaii last year with my daughters High School marching band, great trip. Only got to see the highlights of Hawaii. WE would love to go back on our time, was costly and the 9 hour flight just about did me in.. We have not been to WDW in 2 years so looking foward to going to WDW. WE do leave for WDW in two days, about half the cost of Hawaii....

Disney all the way. Sure, Hawaii is pretty, but for us, after a few days, it's just a tropical island with a beach. Yeah, I'll probably offend some, but BORING, LOL.

I'll go to Disney, have 1000's of things to do and stay at the Poly if I need some Hawaii time. ;) (Oh, and I'll go back a few times in the same year with the money I'll save, LOL).

You have been to WDW, ( and I know the special place it has in your heart for your family ) have you guys ever been to Hawaii? If not, I would go there. I wish we could afford it, my kids are older now...sophpmores in HS and college, and I really wish we had been able to take them to HI at some point. My DS loves military history and really wants to see Pearl Harbor too.
Either way, sounds like you have a great family trip coming up!:thumbsup2 Aslo, economy may be making HI possible now as to not so affordable in the future.

Hawaii hands down!!! Been to Maui several times. Would LOVE to go back!! Gorgeous island! Let us know what you pick. Both are great destinations :)

Both? That's what we're doing this year. Disney on the cheap and Hawaii on the not so cheap. :cheer2:

So are we. We are taking a shorten WDW vacation in June and then spending Christmas in Hawaii. I have to say though, that since we normally do vacation at Disney, it was a bit odd to officially buy our plane tickets to Hawaii. I felt like I was cheating on Mickey. ;)

Thank you FINFAN.. Thank you guys for sharing your thoughts.

It's been 6 yrs since we've been to WDW. WOWWWEEE Almost $80 for 1 day ticket for an adult?! And about $50 more for parkhopper!

Either way.. Both are going to be expensive!! I'm thinking.. I don't know now if we are ready to go this year.. We may end up in Virginia Beach/DC. or Chicago for their taste fest. Been to Maui twice.. It's paradise!

I love them both, going to WDW this year and in 2 years going back to Hawaii, next year will be a 7 day cruise to the Eastern Caribbean.

WDW... I'm not even remotely interested in going to Hawaii. The length of the flight alone would send me over the edge.

Disney of course :thumbsup2
Really, I would choose Disney 'cause there's only a limited time my kids will love it (until they go thru the stage of it not being cool) - but Hawaii will always be there & as teens the kids will love to go there & lay on the beach & do nothing but hang.

Disney will never be uncool. My sister is 16 and still loves it and i am in my early 20s and never disliked it either. it is to magical to be uncool! lol:lovestruc

Hey Telly..here is this years *tenative* Taste of Chicago info

http://gochicago.about.com/od/tasteofchicago/p/taste_chicago.htm

in case you do head "across the lake"
No fireworks this year on the 3rd due to budget cuts, going to bum a LOT of people out, like millions!
Anyway, those are the dates in case you do want to look into hotel deals.
Holy Cow, 6 years since WDW? That has ro be a record for you guys. Yeah , airfare from the midwest to Hawaii is brutal. Itis hard becasue it seems resorts and hotels are giving great deals, but is it still costs a small fortune just to get there, well, not really affordable after all.
Hope you guys can work something out to get away for a week or so!
someone mentioned an upcopming cruise, I did read that the best way to see as much of Hawaii as possible is on a hawaiian cruise, maybe there are some deals on those?

Hawaii. Everyone was pleased when we went to hawaii, no complaining. Disney on the other hand....:/

And its totally worth the long flight.

Actually I was wanting to do Hawaii this year for our 20th, went in 2004 and had a fabulous time. A couple of things stopped me. 1. Money, I would want to go at least as long as last time, and figured it would cost over $10,000 for the 5 of us for 3 islands 18 nights. Have a junior in HS so those college expenses are coming fast. 2. We have a 2yr old, the 10 1/2 hr flight out was tough on me, not sure if I want to face it with a 2 yr old. Maybe when we finish the mortgage in 3 years.

Thank you! Thank you for sharing that infos. We went to Chicago in 08 and 09 and was able to catch their taste fest. We loved it!! We were walking around and just doing a little taste here and there! We saw the fireworks in 08, but we had to miss it in 09 cause we couldn't find a room to stay! We've never been to Chicago until 2 years ago.. and just love this place! For sure if we can't go anyway far.. Chicago will be it!

The flight to Hawaii is a killer! 12 hrs from Detroit! If we were living on the westcoast, it wouldn't be so bad.. and I am quite sure the cost of the flight won't be as bad either. What's worse is the flight to the Philippines.. about 22 hours (including a layover).. that's a suicide right there! But that's another story..

Yep... it's been a while since we've been to Disney. My 13 yr old son was just asking me about Disney and he is the who was telling me that those rides are for babies!! I guess he is having a withrawals too.. and just not showing it.. :) My daughter is ready to go..

I love both Hawaii and WDW but would pick Hawaii. Also love Chicago. We went there last summer and had a blast.

I've been to both in the last year (live in Hawaii) and I'd pick Hawaii, for the adventure alone. I've done the flight from Chicago too, it is long but is goes by fairly fast I though, and the flight back is usually overnight so that's not too bad.
