I can't believe the ground breaking was over a year ago... I haven't seen any updates recently. Has anyone been able to take pics of the current construction?
I was wondering what the CW is on when they will start selling this property and when in 2011 it will open...
(Hey! Maybe they will make an announcement on the upcoming webcast! :wizard:)

The Fall 2009 Disney Files Magazine says opening in late 2011. I suspect that they will wait until the 2010 Member Cruise to announce a start date for sales.

Are you going on the Member Cruise? If they do announce then, I bet they will have some really good deals for folks going on the cruise.

wdrl posted a thread earlier regarding a report on the DVC News.

Yesterland.com shows periodic updates on construction. Here's update #6:

http://www.yesterland.com/disneykoolina6.html They are not recent photos though (July 2009).

Thanks for the links. :) I was hoping the DIS DVC board might have an on the scene reporter to get some more pics. I wonder if the construction is going as fast as BLT did? For BLT, it seemed like they were doing a floor a month when we were watching the construction process. The Ko Olina pics from July look like they had all the foundation stuff and were ready to start going upwards!

Keep in mind that most building materials must be shipped or flown in to Oahu. Having said that, I am anxious for it to be built and the point structure to be announced.

Thank you for posting the link. Definitely made some progress. I hope I get to visit someday.

On the above link it states that the resort will consist of 480 Two Bedroom DVC units. Does this mean there will be no One Bedroom units or will they offer all categories?

Based on all DVC resorts built so far, the number probably refers to 480 2-bedroom "equivalents." Some percentage of those 2-bedroom unit will be lock-offs that can be booked and occupied as a 1BR and a studio, with the connecting door locked. It's even possible that the mix will include some dedicated 1BR and a studio units, but I wouldn't count on it.

They'll offer all categories. The two bedrooms can be split into a one bedroom and a studio.

It's great to see the photos. We're definitely planning to stay there some time, and we're seriously thinking about buying points there once we see the point costs and view categories.

The exact mix of accommodations will likely depend on available parking and local zoning requirements. As I understand it parking will be limited so that could affect the unit configuration. I believe that the beaches are public so limiting parking discourages day visitors which benefits resort guests.

It looks amazing- thanks so much for that link!! We can't wait to go!!

We booked a Med cruise for 2011 so we're hoping the point charts are reasonable enough for us to go in 2012. Wish we could get more scoop on that part of it!:rolleyes1

I have plans for it in the future.. my wife has always wanted to do Hawaii.. I will make that dream a reality for her.. Hawaii & DVC.. what a wonderful combination!!!
