Hawaii exchanges?

I know this has been asked before, but would like to exchange sometime in the future for Hawaii. How hard are they to get? Anyone know which are the best ones. I'm thinking Maui, or Kuai....Thanks for any info!

It depends on when and where you want to go. The top resorts are the Embassy's, Marriott's & Westin and these are the only one's I'd currently trade my DVC points for. Maui will be the hardest followed by Oahu. The big Island will be the easiest, and usually not worth using DVC points for exchange. School vacation times will be almost impossible regardless. My personal approach would be to list the above resorts for Maui only with all dates workable. Once I had that week booked, I'd then list the other islands I'd consider to flank the week I had and stay for at least 2 weeks. IF you are looking at using FF miles, you may want to book at the 330 day window and take your chances on accommodations with a cash back up for condo's or hotels.

Thanks for the information. You have been extremely helpful. It sounds very difficult, and definately needs advanced planning. Unfortunately at this stage in my life, advanced planning is almost an impossibility. Advance planning for us is a 2-3 month wondow, which is making DVC ownership a hassle. I guess the only way I'll be able to exchange is through the concierge collection...........Thanks again

Only being able to plan a few months ahead puts you at a DRAMATIC disadvantage with DVC or any other timeshare. What I'd suggest is you do your best guess at planning and see how it goes. But even that will work better for DVC than for exchanging. Don't look at it as difficult but as a challenge.

Didn't have much problem getting the hotel thru DVC several years ago. The biggest challenge was getting the flights using FF miles. Spent a week on Maui in June. It was great. Good luck!

Look at the TUG site. Great for timeshare owners and direct trades.
