I'm starting to plan for our 2nd trip to Poly/WDW. This time around we will stay concierge level, lagoon view or so I hope. For all who have stayed LV, do you recomend 1st, 2nd, or the 3rd floor. My kids will be 10 and 5 when we get back to WDW.

we enjoy having 1st floor and just opening up the door and walking out to the beach.. it's not a hassle at all to go up to 2nd floor for concierge food etc..

some people enjoy having 2nd floor since it is on the same floor as conceirge, however there are no balconies on 2nd floor..

and then 3rd floor is half smoking optional..

so, my vote is 1st floor.. just watch the 5yr old.. don't want him/her running out the door...

I say 3rd floor. Even though it is 1/2 smoking we NEVER smelled any smoke or anyone smoking. The view is to die for. We layed in bed just watching the castle change colors. The lounge is only 1 set of stairs, and you shouldn't have to worry about your 5 yr. old wandering away from the balcony.

Have fun.

Another vote for room on 3rd floor, Balcony was OK for my 18 month old and 6 yr old.

Have Fun

Are you able to see the castle better on the third or is the view the same on the first/second?

I believe the 1st floor would be better if not the 3rd, 2nd floor seemed to have some palm trees blocking some views, but I believe that it was very minor, Tikiman would know.

thanks all. Wow, tikiman sure has an informative site. I love looking through. Still can't make up my mind 1st or third floor. To be up higher with a view of the castle (colors change) or to be few feet from the beach. I don't know. I'll have to think on this one a bit.

Any others out there?

What do you pefer?

Just got back today from Hawaii building. We were on the 3rd floor and think its the best. It sounded to us like the noise level on the first floors could be hard both early in the morning and late at night with people on the beach and going/coming from the swimming pools.

On our last trip we stayed on the 3rd floor in rm 3507, a non-smoking room (could not smell any smoke in the hallway, either). We really enjoyed the privacy of our balcony and left the drapes open pretty much all the time to enjoy the view. With a 1st floor room, I often feel like everyone walking by is "peering" into our room if the drapes are open (I know.....a bit paranoid!). You can not go wrong with either floor.....we love LVC and have already booked for next May :D

We stayed on the 1st floor last year and loved it! You can see the castle perfectly well, the EWP is right there in front of you each evening, and you have the convenience of just stepping down to the beach. This was great since my 2 DSs are really active and one of us could easily take them for a walk! Plus I didn't have to worry about the younger one taking a nose-dive from the balcony. He figured out how to open the door within 5 minutes!

We had the third floor - 2505 - it was absolutely PERFECT!!!

Not having a balcony was no problem - just think of how much you would actually sit out there. We opened the door and loved the view of the castle.

Our room was about midway down the hallway - perfect distance to the lounge.

Have fun - the concierge staff are the best in the world!!!

If you enjoy leaving your window open, pick something above the first floor or you'll have ducks in your room in no time. We had them pecking at our window early in the morning one time- cute, but...

Well I must agree that you risk looking into the foliage of a palm tree from the 3rd floor and while the view is nice and I have never smelled smoke in the rooms on the 3rd floor even before part of it became non-smoking, I will say that the view of the castle does not change. This is not an opinion it is a fact and if you think about it in geometric terms your angle on an object (the castle) a mile and a half away does not change if you rise up 20 feet so you are not going to see any more of the castle from the 3rd floor, only more of the beach.

I enjoy the upper rooms but for me they don’t beat being able to walk out the door and go to the beach or having the open patio to stretch out on. Sitting on the 3rd floor the railing is right at eye level so you need to stand or look through the railing.

I have never had a noise problem on the ground level. There just is not that much traffic on the path or the resort anywhere and we go on 4th of July week (except this year), and as far as people looking in…well that is what drapes are for.

First floor! right there in one of those rooms Steve is showing you a picture of!!

My children and I were just looking at Polynesian pictures and getting in our Disney vacation mood. And boy are we in the mood!

I have to have my DH read this thread, I requested 1st or 3rd floor thinking balcony or patio - but really I think best view of the castle is what I really want! I remember last year being in bed and being able to watch the castle change colors. That was fantastic!

But maybe if I want those curtains open to see the castle, I should have a higher floor, DH might not like having the curtains open in 1st floor room all night:p

Oh! what to do!!! Maybe I'll just take what I'm given and be happy!!!

Steve (Tikiman) I remember a thread once somewhere where you talked about which rooms may be blocked, I wonder if I had a very ubstructed view if it would be annoying to ask if they have a better view available - I really don't want to be the annoying guest right off the bat. But gosh I want to see that castle - just like everyone else I guess!

I'll probably get 2nd floor, way down the end of the hall, totally ubstructed view and I'll probably still love being there!

The far end of Hawaii has no trees near the building so down on that end you will be fine. You can request best castle view but you will get what they give you. I am sure it will be fine.

I won't be posting much more here. It has been way too slow and half the time it does not post.

email me if you ahve more questions.

Aloha
