we have relatives that live right near disney and we were thinking of asking them to come over and do a park with us one day.. will they be able to leave their car at ssr or will they have a problem getting into the resort..

thanks..

My daughter and her family live in the area. They never have any problem in coming for a visit when we are staying on grounds. Just be honest and tell the guard that they are visiting a registered guest.

That's good advice. My parents live outside of Orlando and we bought into the DVC so that we wouldn't have to stay so far away from the park when we visited with our three year old. I'll have to remember that.

SteveS:

This is interesting; do they ask your family for a name or room number, or is "we're visiting a registered guest" good enough to get them in?

I have a DSIL who's an hour from WDW. When she comes over to visit when we're down there, she gets to the gate and tells them she's here to visit the _____(insert name here), the security guy checks on the list to make sure the ____ are registered guests, and lets her in no problem. If you want to be extra vigilant, call security and tell them you are expecting a guest. I have done that too, and they seem to like it.

We visited DVC friends at VWL last summer, before we bought into DVC. Our friends told the front desk that they were expecting us to visit. At the gate, we gave our name and their name and said we were visiting. Both times, the guard asked to see the driver's license, then let us through.

Security might be tighter at VWL, though, because of the easy access to MK.

I guess it depends on the guard who is working. During the summer while we were there we had guests come over. They had to give them our name and room number. He asked them to wait while he confirmed the info with the front desk. He asked their names. Put it on a log in and their license plate number.

The next day we asked the guard if this was SOP and he said it is during certain times of the day to prevent people from parking there to go to DD and PI.

We just stayed at SSR, had two different visitors and each time they just said they were visiting a registered guest and they were waved through without the guard asking a name at all.
