Having trouble pulling the trigger!

Thanks Lisa! Do you know where I might be able to find info on the annual fees at the various properties? I didn't realize that VB dues were the highest. I did see several resales for VB at $65/pt. Seemed very cheap...

I found these on another site:

Annual dues, per point, for 2006 at each resort are as follows:
Saratoga Springs $3.98
Old Key West - $4.24
Hilton Head - $4.34
Beach Club Villas - $4.48
Wilderness Lodge - $4.61
Boardwalk Villas - $4.69
Vero Beach - $5.27

CHIdadOF3 it took us approximately 3 years to decide the DVC @ WDW was right for us. I ran the numbers more than a few times during that 3 year period buy just couldn't pull the trigger. Yet, we knew did know a few things (1) we really like vacationing at WDW, (2) we only like to stay on property, (3) we were going at least once a year and sometimes more often, and (4) we were staying at moderate or better resorts. But, we would have had to finance to get into DVC and I didn't want to commit to another monthly payment.

Fortunately for us, we came into enough money via an inheritance to pay cash for 300 points at BCV and then we pulled the trigger.

Honestly, I doubt if we would have gotten into DVC if we had to finance it but I have no regrets that we waited, I don't "wish" we had done it sooner, and in hindsight I have found it's much more than just a dollars and cents decision.

But, for me it was a dollars and cents issue and my feeling is that until you and your spouse are pretty sure it meets your specific needs.

Also, remember that you can add on once you have become members. We purchased 230 points first off, and a year later added another 150 at the same resort with the same use year. We toyed with the idea of buying our add-on points at a different resort, but we wanted all points available at 11 months, and we LOVE our home resort.

Well, I just got off the phone with our rep and paperwork should be arriving in about a week. Excitement has totally kicked in yet (maybe it's because I'm parting with almost $20K! :scared1: ) but I'm sure it will once we start making that first reservation.

Thanks again to all who have taken the time to address the MANY questions I had and all the great advice I received. :thumbsup2

This board was a huge help and I'm sure I'll be spending a lot more time out here!!

Welcome Home! It took me more than a year to pull the trigger (just under a year ago). Bought a 150 pt. contract at SSR. Without it, DH and I couldn't take DSD to Vero Beach this summer (just booked the two rooms today). No way could we have paid for two rooms out of pocket. But staying on points made it possible.

Addonitis has definitely set in. Maybe will be able to get a small contract (50 -75 points) once we have our taxes done.

BTW, stayed at HHI in November, and BCV just this month. They were both fantastic.

Have been told by other kind souls on the DIS that we won't be disappointed with Vero Beach, either.

Here's to many years of wonderful vacations for your family. :thumbsup2
