Without getting into all the details...we have decided we need to sell our DVC. Oh that was hard to say.

I've seen mostly stuff on buying nothing on selling. Is that taboo on here?

I've seen the threads on reputable places for the buyers so I guess I'll start there.

Can anyone that has sold tell me about what the commission runs?

Thanks for any advice.

My husband and I just sold a contract using The Timeshare Store. They were great to work with. We looked at a few places and the standard commission is 10%. It could be higher some places, but most places it was 10%.

I sold a contract through The Timeshare Store. You *can* sell it yourself but then you need to handle all the paperwork.

I recently sold 2 contracts through the Timeshare Store. It was painful and I already miss it dearly, but sometimes we just have to do these things. TSS was professional and efficient. I really like working with them. I highly recommend them.

:grouphug: to you OP, hope things will go well for you and yours, sometimes when we need to close a door in life an even better door eventually opens :flower3:

Just remember Disney is always there...you can buy points again in the future. You are doing the best for your family and that is all that matters! Disney is a want not a need and will always be available, when your situation gets better. Good luck selling your contracts!

I also used the Timeshare store and the commission was 10%. They are great and am very pleased with how things are going.

Good luck to you!

I'm sorry for your loss. We sold most of our points last year...we're left with a very small add-on.

We sold through The Timeshare Store. We were very pleased with the service- they made it very simple to sell. Be prepared for a bit of a wait to sell though. We listed in October and sold in February. We had just come to terms with the prospect of taking it back off the market because our financial advisor was telling us that it was highly unlikely that it would sell, and we didn't really want to sell it anyway. She wasn't entirely familiar with DVC. We had started planning more vacations :sad1: just when we got an offer.

Things do work out and selling was not the worst thing in the world. It put us back on a better financial footing so we can get through the rest of the years while my kids need me home and until I'm prepared to move into my second (or is that third?) career. We fully plan to buy more points once I'm working again, and now we have a better idea of where we want our home resorts to be. Either that or we'll be living near WDW and won't need the points.

Good luck for a swift painless sale and good financial fortune. Be glad you own DVC because you're so much more likely to actually sell and maybe you can even make a small profit rather than taking a loss (we did!).

I am sorry to hear that you need to sell your Disney Vacation Club package. I know it can be a very difficult decision and a hard one to make. At The Timeshare Store, Inc. we charge a 10% commission. Disney will charge a $20 Right of First Refusal waiver fee and a $50 Estopple fee.

The typical time it takes to sell a package is 30 to 60 days, but it will depend on the Sale Price, Location, Size of contract, and number of points available (current, banked, or borrowed). If you would like further information or would like to speak to an agent, please feel free to call our office and we will be happy to assist you with any questions
