Having to check your magic band before entering a park?

On my trip a couple days ago, my boyfriend's magic band had some technical difficulties. It basically pulled the wrong ticket when we were entering parks, leaving him without a park hopper on our last day. :sad2: The castmember that helped us, although she was very nice, told us rather sternly that we are supposed to have them "checked for priority settings" by "any castmember" before using them. I've been planning for months and haven't seen this protocol anywhere. Is this a normal thing? :confused3

That sounds bizarre. Never heard of that. When you check in, I would think the CM would glance over what's on them. I've never even heard of that phrase, nor do I know what it means.

While not a written protocol that I've read anywhere, it is wise to head to a guest services location prior to entering a park for the first time and have a CM prioritize your tickets (only applicable if there is more than 1 valid ticket linked to your MB). The system has no way of knowing otherwise which one you want/need to use first.

If you have more then one ticket linked to your MDE, then it's possible that a ticket could be used that you didn't want used.

We have annual passes linked to our MDE, but at one point we also had two day tickets linked. I knew about the ticket prioritization (but only from reading these boards). CM 's never mentioned this so I can see how people wouldn't even think about this.

We took it a step further and had our two day tickets removed from MDE and placed on plastic cards that I could relink at a later date. I don't trust prioritization.

I should have done this. Even though it felt much easier to have everything on the band, I should have had the individual tickets. I didn't even think it would be a problem since I bought a two day park hopper ticket for each of us, linked them, and then a few weeks later I bought 1 day MK tickets and linked those. And then it chose to use a park hopper for our MK day for him, but not for me...it was all very strange.

This is the first I have heard of prioritization as well... thank goodness for these boards! So my questions is, we have two tickets for our upcoming trip: one-day park hoppers and one-day MK. Since we are doing Epcot/DHS and then MK do we still need to do this prioritize thingie?

Yes.
Go to any Guest Relations at WDW sometime before entering a park gate.

I would say yes, just in case.
