Having the "we need more points" bug REALLY BAD!

Sure - 2 UY are Hilton Head only - I live in SC so HH is only 4 hrs away - those UYs are months apart so that if I need to cancel, I don’t have to worry about bank/borrow points. The other 3 are April UY for Spring, June for Fall and Oct for Christmas trips…in 15 yrs of owning - I’ve never lost a point.
that's fantastic!!

We were going to start out with 150 direct. Got off the phone with our guide and quickly decided that we need more points and would get a better deal if we bought more. Called her back in about 5 minutes and bought more. 😬

We now have 2775 points with 16 different direct/resale contracts and the same UY. Also planning on getting another contract next year and that "may" be the end.

Almost 3 THOUSAND points??

You're living the dream!

Bought 160 at Aulani in 2012 on the Fantasy. I made my husband go to the presentation because I wanted to win the spa certificate. (I didn't win.) We bought an additional 100 point contract there before our first trip when I realized we needed more points to stay in a 2 bedroom. At the time we were living an hour from DLR and figured we wouldn't need anything more. Fast forward to Feb of 2020 and we had the opportunity to buy 50 VGC points direct and we jumped at that because we had moved out of state. We added a 68 point resale contract at VGC a couple years later and then bought 150 points at VDH in 2023. We are a 6 hour drive from DLR and with family still in the area and adult kids, someone in the family always wants to make a trip. That was it. We were done.

Thursday, my daughter and I wander into the Welcome Home center at DCA because I was dehydrated and needed somewhere to rest while I drank my Poweraide. The guide and I get to chatting and he asks me if we have a points goal. I say, "Nope, we are good with where we are." I start telling him about our contracts and he says "110 VGC points just became available this morning. There are still 60 left. Do you want them?" Those VGC points are unicorn points so needless to say, we are buying them. My husband says "That was the most expensive mother/daughter DL trip ever." 🤣

Now I'm wondering who bought the other 50...

Hey everyone. LONG time lurker, but haven't posted much (and apparently I can't even get the cool pics in my signature until I post more so I thought I'd say what I've been thinking about DVC)...!

We got 300 points at OKW and absolutely love it (despite many people sort of dogging on OKW we just thought it was wonderful.) I can't wait until the boats are working again to DS as we remember riding boats from POFQ to DS and having a grand time years ago.

Well, you'd think that 300 points would suffice but NOPE; I find myself parusing the DVC resale sites almost daily and after maybe just a few weeks of "the bug", we've made an offer on AKV.

I'm crazy excited about it; we're in ROFR right now, so fingers crossed.

I'm curious about how many of you have stuck with your one initial contract vs getting a second (or third)?? Did you stick with the same UY (we did). How many points is enough?? (Subjective, I know, but I'm curious about what other people's takes are.) Thanks!!!
We bought a second Bwv contract to use for future planning. Maintenance fees are high with exchange rate in Canadian funds but planning for future when we can stay longer. I understand why you would want more points.

I am wanting more too and we still haven't stayed at PIT which we added on in December. DH says I need to chill as he is looking at retiring in the next year. To stave off the monster I have made a list of 4 points goals. The first is realistic in the next 2-3 years. The second is where I would like to be points wise to have 3 trips a year all in 1-2 bedrooms. The third is if we came into a solid finacial windfall not massive but just some serious play around with money. And the last is if we won big in the lottery like Mega Millions or Powerball. It helps me dream but not pull the trigger on the add on, for now.

Funny thing is that I felt like we were going to be happy going once a year in a studio when we first bought in. I had pushed in 2013 from the 100 points at VGF my DH had agreed to moving up to 150 and I thought we were sitting pretty. Welp nope and 3 VGF add-ons and 1 CCV and 1PIT add on later I am still dreaming of more and 600 points don't feel like near enough.

I feel the same way. The 1-bedrooms+ at VGF use so many points! I recently made an offer on a VGF resale contract and it was flat out declined so PVB direct is looking more likely. At least it has two bathrooms.

The two bathrooms sold us on PVB as well. We were all about a CCV add on in November until DD saw the 2 bathrooms in the 1 bedroom at the Tower and we were sold.

I don't blame your DD! The primary bathroom is gigantic with a true water closet and dual vanities! The secondary is also spacious, especially compared to the additional bathrooms at BLT and Kidani Village.

It's the theme park view category that really stings on the points chart. I don't want the parking lot. VGF has a lot of great "resort views."

We are at 460 points - 150 direct at Poly after debating for a bit (wish I found disboards first, could have gotten a few extra discounts!), then 150 at BLT before we ever even stayed. Followed up by 160 at Saratoga Springs.

Our goal is to stay essentially 2 nights a month for 9-11 months a year (April/May/December are hard for our family but sometimes we can pull it off), plus I want to do a week long beach/Hawaii/hilton head stay each year. I think we can pull off most of that with all studios right now, but I'm in the process of pushing my wife to sign off on doing that with all one bedrooms - we would need probably 1000-1250 points for that!

The current goal is: get 150 direct at either Poly or Riv before this September to take advantage of not losing a use year (my hopes, not sure it will happen). Then I would love 150 each at Aulani and Beach Club...those are much less likely to get the wife's sign off! Otherwise, because we stay so frequently and only weekends, I just need to figure out when it really makes sense to add on and if there's a specific resort that we would want to own at.
