Having the "we need more points" bug REALLY BAD!

Well this was me on my 1st contract in May of 2024. https://www.disboards.com/threads/d...ffer-accepted-how-i-made-my-decision.3945274/ Its May of 2025 and I now own 1006 points at 4 resorts and 2 use years.
I started in June of 2023 with 2 direct contracts purchased simultaneously, and had 8 contracts by year's end 2024.
I would bet my bottom dollar that if I had not joined this board I would not have gone any further than those first 2 contracts.
And now reading your posts about how much you loved BWV makes me want to own there too. 🤣

Boardwalk is amazing. DO IT!

This board is a bunch of enablers! :rotfl2: I kid (kinda) I may have not bought up to 1000 if it weren't for this board. But also if it weren't the boards I never would have bought period since I had no idea resale even existed and that I could negotiate!

We bought our 300 points to start and have stood pat ever since. The primary reason is that we didn’t have enough vacation time to visit WDW more than once a year (we had other places we wanted to travel), so we didn’t need more points for the trips we did take. And by the time our 300 points only covered a 1BR (at VGF) vs. a 2BR (at BWV), the kids were no longer coming with us regularly so a 1BR was enough. And we’ve been able to plan our big family trips out far enough in advance that we could figure out how to cover them with banking and borrowing. IOW, even though I’m envious of all the folks in the 1,000 point club, we can do everything D.V.C. we want with our 300.

I too fall in the camp of more UYs the better...we're a weird and small group!

I totally see the benefit of numerous UY's for sure but my brain would explode. Even when I transfer in someone else's points with a different UY, my brain explodes. Before I make the reservation with the different UY, I have a bottle of Excedrin waiting in the wings. Ha.

I never thought I would make sense of a 2042 contract and now I want to stay at BCV to see if it makes sense for us 🤣🤣

I bought Beach Club, 100 points, last year. We had the goal to replace our hotel stays with an annual weeklong BCV studio stay for our family of four. We loved the hotel stay and figured we'd love BCV too! 100 points was perfect.

I sheepishly told my mom about our new purchase after we were in ROFR, and she guilt tripped me, as she said she also wanted to come along! And she offered to help pay for almost 70% of a second contract. Well, shoot. 100 points at Beach Club just wouldn't be enough after all.

After a few weeks of obsessive Excel sheet math and DVC resort research, I offered on a Bay Lake Tower 160 point contract in the same use year. Mind you, this is still before we've passed ROFR on our first contract.

I knew 260 points was a good start, but not quite enough in total. I wanted 50 more so that we could reliably bring along my mom every year. I took a circuitous route to get there, and bought 50 at AKV (because it was all I could find in my use year at a reasonable price), but then divested of this and purchased 50 more at Bay Lake when a contract showed up in my use year.

We're at 310 now: 100 at BCV, 210 at BLT, and I think that number is just perfect for a variety of types of weeklong stays at those resorts in our preferred season of winter (1 bedroom at BLT, studio at BCV, or 2 bedroom at BLT or BCV). I don't see adding on more points now unless I changed home resorts and the point chart required it of me.

*Embarassing point here: we have yet to stay at BLT. I don't even have a trip booked there yet. I know we'll get there eventually, but we really like Beach Club, and there were a few things we wanted to try too, like AKV Savannah view, Polynesian, and eventually Aulani. Maybe we'll finally do BLT in 2028? (2027 sounds like we may be taking an international non Disney trip)

I just need to finish convincing one of my kids to pursue a trade instead of going to college, and I'm in.
Everything is on the table if it leads to more points, right?
My 1st went to college before when I never would have dreamed of owning DVC. My 2nd I still got 7 years or so to figure that out.

An average of 71.78 points per contract! Impressive...most impressive.
Yup - a lot of little odd number contracts - largest is our first at 160 SS point - smallest is a very rare 15 (yes, fifteen) point contract at BCV.

As a future parent is homeschooling cheaper? my kid can probably figure it out off of YouTube 😂.

We talked about getting dvc tattoos as well, my wife is an artist and she wants to do a spin off of the DVC mickey with the suitcase 🤣🤣
I wonder how many of us would get a DVC tattoo if it meant guaranteed access to moonlight magic.

I bought in Feb 2024 and intentionally purchased a resale contract and direct points within a couple months of each other. I knew I wanted a hybrid membership of around 250-300 points to start (ended up with 253 due to a favorite week purchase).

I promised my husband I would wait to add on until after our February 2026 trip. I know we need the extra points but am really torn between adding on direct or resale. Barring a fire sale or massive downturn in the resale market, I am holding firm on waiting. This board doesn’t help me in my efforts. 😂

We do have a trip to WDW in August (offsite 😢) and a trip to Tokyo Disneyland in November which are helping me hold on. Bring a DL local also helps, too.

OKW - one UY. All resale - I don't need a $15,000 discount card for a couple of trips. I'm planning for a big family holiday in 2028 (or later)

Started with 150 to dip toe in the water. Added another 210 a year later to get what I needed for the big family trip. Last year, saw a 230 contract with double points and thought that could be great for SAP if we think other resorts can trump OWK. I didn't need it so I just bid $64 and asked the seller to pay for the current year dues. I was surprised they accepted.

Did a 5 resort tour last year (using all those SAP) and realised that OKW was the right choice. Therefore sold the 210 contract knowing that I wouldn't need it.

No addonitus here. I know the exact number of points needed for the target holiday. Once that's been had, I'll sell the 230 contract and think about maintaining the 150 for the odd break now and then.
