We did. We originally bought into DVC in June 2008 - AKV was all that was for sale as original sales (SSR had just sold out, THV points hadn't gone on the market). BLT was under construction but nothing had been announced. We knew we wanted to buy into DVC, so we bought AKV. We got home and realized that it just wasn't right for us - that wasn't what we wanted as our home resort, so we canceled in early July within the 10-day window.
When BLT was announced, we didn't miss a beat - called our guide and put in our order for points ready to go as soon as they went on sale for new members. I wouldn't change a thing about it!!
We loved BLT when we stayed there in September with a MK view. We added on there in 2009. BCV is still our favorite, but BLT is a close 2nd. It was great seeing the fireworks, then getting in bed!
My husband is out of work temporarily, and I don't want the extra payment for BLT. It's doable, but money would be very tight if something else came up, and I don't want to take a chance!
Not to discourage you but I just got back from the world on 11/29 ,we took a tour of blt on sat, and the rooms seemed a bit small to me . The veiws are awesome but the space I just don't know about .

If you have any hesitation put it on hold and do more research, wait for your husband to be back to work and by that time you will have more information whether it is the right choice for you. It took us 4 years (15 years of trips) to finally take the plunge. DVC will be there so don't jump into it if you are unsure you have plenty of time.

Have you toured any other rooms? The BLT studios are small, but the 1br and up are some of the biggest on property. Only OKW is larger and AKV-Kidani is a virtual tie with regard to square footage. The living areas especially are much larger than most other DVC properties. I didn't fully appreciate how much more space there is at BLT until I did a split stay moving from SSR to BLT. Without me saying a word, everyone in our group mentioned how much more room the BLT 2br had than the SSR 2br.

If it were me, I would definitely cancel. Why add more stress to the situation. DVC will be there when finances are more stable. Good Luck too and hopefully he will be back to work in no time.
I was going to say, I certainly LOVED the space we had in our 2 bedroom. I know it'll be impossible for us to do less than a 1 bedroom now.
To the OP, with your DH's job situation, your hesitation is extremely valid. Go w/ your gut.
I would LOVE to buy into BLT since we did a split between our home of AKV and BLT. My DH preferred AKV and I preferred BLT. LOVED them both but personal decorating tasted and lighting espcially, BLT won for me.

I would suggest you wait! It's a buyers market right now, so prices may even drop further. No sense putting yourself in a crisis if things don't fall in place with the job market.
