we will be driving up from ft lauderdale, and usually are a rope drop family, but switching up this trip staying at WL trying to arrive & relax day 1 before drinking around the world day 2 we will have our own vehicle we have considered disney springs or an outlet mall what should we do to relax in wdw area

Have you ever been to Geyser Point at WL? We love it there. I would think after Disney Springs and some pool time, sitting out along the water enjoying a meal at Geyser Point is sooo relaxing.

I would just hang out at WL. Maybe take the resort boat and visit Ft W stables. Or boat to CR and do a monorail crawl to GF and Poly. You are staying at one of the most beautiful resorts on property, why not take advantage of it?

We’ve usually been the type to hit a park on arrival day but have switched it up.

Next trip we still plan on taking a morning park, leaving our bags with bell services and hitting Disney Springs. Make a lunch ADR there and maybe grab some new ears and a shirt if we’d like. I’m not the biggest Disney springs fan so I don’t need to be there very long. Then back to the resort for unpacking, exploring the resort, QS/pool bar dinner and pool time.

I agrée that Geyser Point is a great place to kick back and relax. When staying at WL and our room is not yet available, we usually head there. It is not normally very busy in the early afternoon and it’s very enjoyable. (We enjoy it for dinner, too, but it’s much busier then.) The pools at WL are fun too. I could very easily sit and just enjoy that gorgeous lobby for a bit too. :goodvibes

Hang out at that gorgeous pool and resort! Maybe take the boat over to MK and then monorail to Poly for a meal at Kona or Captain Cook's. I would stay out of the car and enjoy being in the MK area!

I would just enjoy the beautiful Wilderness Lodge. Relax in the lobby around the fireplace. Go to Storybook Dining and meet Snow White and the (evil) Queen. Enjoy the pool and hot tubs. Have a drink and a snack at Geyser Point.

Yeah I'm with the "just hang out at the resort" folks. But I don't find the idea of schlepping to Disney Springs on arrival day relaxing unless I'm staying somewhere with easy access to it, like the port orleans resorts or OKW/Saratoga. I can think of worse ways to relax after a long drive than sitting in those rocking chairs in the WL lobby. :)
