Do many of you have multiple home resorts? We only own at BLT right now, but are considering another contract. We don't like to travel during the peak season's so We haven't had a problem booking at the 7 month mark. My only thought is what if down the road, they change the 7 month mark window and reduce it to 6 months or less, or even remove it and say you need to stay only at your home resort. What are your thoughts on an additional contract purchase, and picking a different home resort?????

I appreciate all your feed back!

Honestly - we have 3 contracts all at OKW. Never had trouble getting into any resort, even 6 weeks out for the dates we've needed. We usually don't care where we stay if it is not OKW. So as they say, buy where you want to stay not where you might. If you are happy with BLT I would just keep all my points there. If you really think you want to stay BLT one year and then BCV the next and do every other year, then buy a contract elsewhere.

I love BLT, and I know its early, but We haven't had any problems with the booking time table. We like to stay at BLT for one trip a year, and then We kind of just want to bop around and try each place with our 2nd trip of the year. I have a feeling We are going to buy at BLT again. I really enjoy getting the feedback from other members, I enjoy the disboards.......

We have points at Saratoga (our first home resort) and bought additional ownership at AKV. It doesn't matter much to us, we also travel during "off peak" season and like it that way. However, we've wanted to stay at BLT and have had difficultly getting a one bedroom there. IF we could do it again, I"d pass on AKV and wait for the offering at BLT.

We have three contracts at OKW, but added on 2 contracts at BLT. Wanted to be assured of getting an MK view in December. So, BLT is our Christmas resort and the OKW points cover the rest of the year. Easy to manage that way since I call in January for the following December and only use the BLT points.

We have both BLT and VWL points. I'd like to add on more at BLT so I can be a little more even on my booking abilities. I don't usually care where I stay- if I have a preference I make sure I adhere to the booking deadlines. This Oct I really wanted to get back to VWL because I do love it so I booked at 11 months.

I have 2 contracts at BCV and then I purchased a 3rd when SSR first came up for sale. I regret buying the SSR contract. I wanted 3 contracts because I have 3 children but I wish I had purchased a BCV resale.

have 3 - most at BLT, a little at VWL and BWV.

BWV is mostly for the food/wine.

VWL is for christmas.

my DB & DSIL prefer OKW - so generally make a reservation there using my BLT points for them.

you can generally get OKW, SSR and for now AKV using any points. BWV is sometimes on that list too.

BCV and BLT (at least for now) are the hardest to get.

I'm having this debate in my head now too. I want to do an add on next year or so and am trying to decide which is the best way to go. I haven't had any problems booking at 7 months either and am not fussy. As long as we are at a DVC resort I'm good. I am tempted to add on at BLT but I want to see if DVC does build at GF, because I would probably do that (if points chart isn't over the top.)

I have three kids so I plan on having three equal contracts so that way they can each have/use one. Financially speaking it makes sense for me to do all three at SSR (cheaper resale), which we have right now. I do like the option of having 11 month window at other resorts though. What to do????? :rotfl2:

I guess at this moment I would like my membership to look like this:

SSR
GF
BLT?

We have 7 contracts, 5 at SSR & 2 at OKW. Wish we had bought some at BCV & BWV but price was higher. We got good deals at SSR & OKW. We're happy with owning SSR & OKW. We stay most of the time at BWV with board walk view most of the time.

I really like the idea of having one home resort for one time of the year, and then another home resort for the other time of the year. I guess I need to try a few more DVC resorts. I have only stayed at OKW, BLT, & AKV. Not a large enough sample to know I guess.

We own at BLT for our Christmas trip. Booking at 11 months at 9am is crucial. And we have a SSR contract to use on our extra trips throughout the year.

I agree with this! My DW has always been a huge AKL fan, now we are at BWV right now and she has a new favorite!

We own at BLT and SSR. We just sold VGC and adding on at SSR so we will have almost 300 points at each resort. I would like more at BLT some day to be able to book GV or multiple rooms for a family gathering. Right now I am happy with both resorts, staying for 7 nights in THV in folllowed by 4 nights BLT!

We own at AKV and just added on at VWL. Honestly, back in March, I was planning on adding more points at AKV... but then I found an amazing deal at VWL and jumped on it. As much as I love AKV, I also wanted to have points at a resort closer to one of the theme parks. So it was either going to be BCV or VWL. It has all worked out well for us b/c the reason I wanted more points at AKV was to have a savannah view. Now with alternating resorts/banking and borrowing, we can have a savannah view every other year at AKV - and - the other year stay at VWL. :thumbsup2

Best of luck to you and have fun with your decision!

We like variety. We don't want to always stay at the only home resort we had, so we bought some more points at other resorts. This allows us to book at 11 months and get reservation we need when we want it. We bank and borrow the other resorts to ensure we can spend four 8-night trips in a year in a 1-BR.

It works out great for us!

I'm not sure I would agree with that anymore. Two years ago I couldn't get a 1 bdrm at OKW for any of our 8 nights, but got AKL CL. My DB and SIL tried to get a 1bdrm at OKW for few weeks ago. I think they called 5 months out. I can't remember what they could get, but it was something with too many points that they didn't have.

We have two contracts at OKW and one small one at AKV. Our reasons for that are two fold. We started with 230 OKW points back in 1997. After our first trip, we realized we needed more, so we added on another 150 points. Those two OKW contracts served us well over the years, but when AKV came up, we KNEW we wanted at least some home resort points there for an occasional CL stay. That's how we came to buy the 69 point AKV contract. Now we find we use the AKV contract by using 1.5 -3 years worth of points at a time. Sometimes we stay at AKV-CL for a couple of days before or after our OKW portion of the trip.

you probably already understand this, but i just wanted to clear up for any newbies reading along that if you buy BLT pts, it's only those new BLT pts that can be used to book BLT at 11 months out. the SSR pts are still only good for booking SSR at 11 months out. at 7 months out, you can mix the pts to book whatever is available (assuming the contracts are all under one member number.)

We have contracts at BWV, BCV, SSR and BLT. It's very easy to keep track and the different resorts gives you flexibility to stay at more resorts for peek dates.
