Having Issues Finding a New Phone --- UPDATE pg. 11

Phones with slide-out keyboards are definitely available on AT&T! We have about 4 right now.

Samsung Propel
Samsung Impression *Brand New this week*
Pantech Matrix
Pantech Matrix Pro

Also be on the lookout for the LG Zenon (Xenon? I have no idea how they're gonna spell it) - it should be out in the next week or 2.
*edit* The LG Xenon officially went on sale on our website today for $99. Touchscreen and a full keyboard! Very nice!
Is it true that the Impression is the new Eternity? How are the reviews? Is it better than the Eternity? How is the Xenon shaping up?

The Impression is like a sibling to the Eternity only with a slideout keypad. If you have not seen the screen, then you need to! It is huge and gorgeous. It's the first phone with an OLED screen (geek tern, I know) it basically means it is nice and bright and can be seen very well in the sun.

Phone Scoop is my favorite review site. They had this phone over the weekend and posted their very in depth review today. Since it is so new, we haven't had much personal time to spend with it, although I will get 2 days to carry one for myself next week.

The Xenon is a smaller version without the really nice screen. The bright blue color is a turn off for most adults, but it functions about the same as the LG Vu if you have seen that phone before. The touch screen is not nearly as nice as the Eternity or Impression.

The $10 data plan others have mentioned is if you already have a family plan with unlimited texting. They give you a $5 discount on data. Otherwise it's $15 a month.

Wow, I typed a lot, but there's a lot you need to know to make a decision!

Oh, and BTW, I'm not gonna be pushy like everyone else, but I really love my iPhone :lovestruc Just so ya know my stance on that one too :thumbsup2

Happy hunting!

We just signed up with AT&T so hubby could get the iphone. I think he paid 299.00 for it. I got the LG Shine for the special rate of 9.99 online. This was with a new contract so you might have to take that into account when you choose. BTW I'm kicking myself for not getting the iphone (I opted to get a regular, cheaper phone but treated myself to a 299.00 ipod touch thinking I wouldn't want the phone:( Wish I'd gotten the iphone after all. Only good thing is only one of us is compelled to pay the required extra $ for the internet/data package you have to get if you buy the iphone. The LG shine is an ok phone by the way.

I stand by my words....

You will regret not getting the iPhone.

Truer words were never spoken!

I am not a Mac (or Apple) lover. I have a Mac at work (along with several PCs) and simply prefer PCs BUT Apple really got it right with the iPhone (and the iPod Touch).

I have had several phones in the past, all with Verizon Wireless. I jumped ship to AT&T just to get the iPhone.

I've never looked back.

By the way, did you know that Apple went to Verizon Wireless first when they were shopping for a carrier? Verizon Wireless turned them down because Verizon Wireless wanted too much control over the iPhone's features.

Hey Nikki I just got a new Phone and changed companies. I used to be with Tracfone which is a prepaid wireless service. But their Prepaid cards not as good as Virgin Mobile for example A $20 card for tracfone will only give you 60 minutes. Virgin Mobile has a $20 Top up card that will give you 400 minutes. I have a LG Phone that is great . Go to www.virginmobileusa.com and check out the phones. Just A thought:thumbsup2

What ever you get don't get an LG env2. I have had more problems with that than any other phone. The first one was my fault - I dropped it and the front screen fried and the inside screen cracked. Verizon replaced it for $50. The second one I had for 3 weeks and the front keyboard broke - I couldn't unlock it. So they replaced it. The second one didn't last 3 days when the front keyboard broke. Apparently you can't keep the phone in your pocket. I now have an elaborate set up so I don't drop the phone (I keep it clipped to my belt loop) and attach it to the outside of my pocket.

Well, here I sit and still do not have a decision. I do know that...

1. I want an iPhone, but not the bill.

2. I'd be happy with the iPhone and its features, but don't want to pay the ridiculous per month price for it.

3. I am interested in the Impression now and am leaning towards it.

The saga continues!

Well, you can just keep on waitin' then! Remember, I am Irish AND Italian PLUS come from Jerzy. There's a whole 'lotta stubborn in me! ;)

I can understand about not wanting to pay the extra per month just wanted to show you some disney related iphone tools i've captured. Your jersey self is getting angry at us iphoners but this new yorker doesn't give up!

I have an original iPhone, not the new 3G. You can still find these relatively inexpensive on eBay (they retailed for about $500 but now go for $150-$200) and the data plan each month is $20 instead of the $30 the 3G requires

Does the $20 a month include text messaging? I wouldn't wanna get a phone from eBay though. I rather get one from an At & T store. Just $20 a month is do-able if it includes texting because I already pay $9.99 for limited texting and Internet use. Does anybody know if they have teacher discounts? Because I am a member of the NJEA, they give me a small discount on my plan each month. I wonder if they have anything like that for this ridiculously priced data package thing?

I know I'd love the iPhone, just not the bill. -playing violins- Maybe Kevin will pay it for me just so he can say he was right? ;)

Oh, and when I saw Diner Dash on your iPhone, I almost squealed like a pig. That is my favorite game ever!!!!!!

I can say "Kevin was right" for free.:thumbsup2

I dont believe the original iPhone is available anywhere but the secondary market at this point. If you want a new iPhone, 3G is the only model currently available.

I love that game its so much fun! It includes 200 text messages, you can spend $15 for 1500 and $20 for unlimited

Sorry, I didn't read through everything. This may have already been mentioned.

Besides the iPhone, which I would endorse 1st.....my kids have the Pantech Matrix. It slides up for a normal phone keyboard and texting or sideways for a qwerty keyboard. They have had them since November, no problems so far.

Ummmmm, I just read this and called AT&T because I have the original iPhone and I'm paying $40 a month!! They told me that for the unlimited texting plus media for the original it is $40. For the 3G phone it is $30 for the media, but then you pay separately for texting and there are different priced packages available.

Am I the only one being charged $40 a month?

Will some of you iPhone owners/lovers PLEASE tell Apple to start offering one without the camera? There's actually a considerable number of us who work for the gov't or defense contractors who are not allowed to have camera phones due to security reasons. My Blackberry 8830 is nice, but it's no iPhone. And I don't think I can get away with having the camera removed either. Apple...please help!!!

Unlimited texting-$20
Unlimited Data - $20

that makes sense i think, right?

It would be $50/month for the 3g because the unlimited data is $30

I went to AT&T today to get my new phone. Long story short: I am thoroughly aggravated.

I have paperwork on all of the plans and will post more here tomorrow when I wake up.

BTW, I do not have a new phone still.
