So our son and his new fiancee are returning from WDW on Saturday night. We're having dinner with our future DIL's parents on Friday night. We've had dinner with them in restaurants quite a few times already, but now we're going to their house. Trying to think of an appropriate hostess gift. We will definetly be bringing a bottle of wine. Maybe I should call the day before and ask if I can bring something for the dinner? Should we bring a "gift"?...like a Christmas gift?

They have some really cute little christmas trees/plants/topiaries at Smith & Hawkin.

I don't have any ideas for a gift other than maybe getting wine glasses to go with the wine. I would, however, call earlier than the day before to see if you can bring anything. If I were you, I would call like tomorrow. What if she assumes your not bringing anything and plans the whole meal and buys whatever she needs to buy. If you call tomorrow, you both can plan ahead of what you need to bring.

If you give them a Christmas present this year you are setting yourself up for giving them one every year. I would just stick with a Hostess Gift, which could be wine or something else like a nice ornament.
