Having blood work done

I know I can't eat anything, but, can I have coffee or water the morning of? Tia

I'd check to make sure. I remember last time I went for bloodwork I fasted. Then when they went to draw blood they could hardly find a vein. They said to me "didn't you drink water before coming here"? I said no and they told me I should have. But I think sometimes you need to totally fast (or is that for surgery?). Call and find out.

It depends on the tests being done. You really have to check with the doctor/nurse.

Check with the doctor. But if they say you can have water, then DO have water because otherwise your veins could be dehydrated and harder to "poke".

GENERALLY.......you are allowed clear fluids. Water, Black coffee or Tea. But always check with your Physician

My doctor wants me to drink water before. If I don't he has a hard time finding a vein and getting blood. I have very tiny veins. Only thing I can have though is water.
