Having a hard time deciding whether to bring the stroller, or rent...

My son will be just shy of 3 for our next trip. His legs have become too long for his current stroller and he won't keep them on the footrest, so they hang over and hit the wheels. I bought an umbrella stroller, but it has already given me fits because the wheels won't turn properly and it'll stick. I really don't want to invest in a bigger stroller because he rarely uses one at home, but I know he'll need one at WDW.

I never thought I'd ask this, but should I just rent one while we're there? Maybe use my Disney Rewards?

What's the current rate for a stroller rental?

Thanks for your input!pixiedust:

My disclaimer...I don't have kids! But from what I've read....

Pros of renting at Disney... The strollers are sturdy, big enough and are right there for you. You don't have the inconvenience of bringing your own.

Pros of bringing your own... At $17.00 rental per day, you could buy one and ditch it (or better yet, pass it on to someone else on your last day) when you are done with it. Also, staying off site, it is a VERY long walk from the exit of MK to your car if you don't have a stroller (boat/monorail, tram, then to your car).

The cost of renting one would probably make it more economical to buy an inexpensive one at walmart or something and then ditch it there.

When we went on our cruise we stayed with family for a few days prior so instead of lugging the pack and play on the plane we bought a cheap one for $30 and left it on the cruise ship for someone else lol.

:scared1: $17 a day?! Whoa. I guess I'll be buying one! Thanks for the heads up!

I would! I brought our own double until my kids were 3 and 5, then a single for them to share until DD was 7 (she tired easily at WDW). I would rather have our own for getting to and from the parks mostly. I kept the old stroller just for trips to WDW!

I think that bringing one is better anyways as you don't have to worry about lugging your luggage and child through airport.

You might want to check out one of the stroller swaps on this boards. Maybe there will be some open dates for the time you are there.

Aside from that, you could buy one second hand at home and bring it with you. If you are renting a house, make sure that the house doesn't have a stroller. If it doesn't, you can always ask the owner if you can leave yours at the house for future guests. We are renting a house that has two strollers, and I'm hoping my son will fit into one of them!

Option 3 would be to rent one offsite. Orlando Stroller rentals rents them for about $70/wk. Much cheaper than Disney!

We are using the boys' Trunki's for the airport and then are having the new service that launched by that fabulous purple van, to deliver a double stroller for the duration of our stay. Looking forward to not having to worry about fitting one more thing into the rental car when we arrive, but having a stroller with us for our nights at DTD AND the parks.
