I will celebrate alone I guess! I just hit 500 post! Whoo hoo!

See you ladies in the morning! Have a GRAND night!

Good grief - you guys have been CHATTY!!!! I have been trying to get caught up all day - you know, between "working" and all. I hate the first day back from vacation! I still have like 250 unread emails. :scared:

I have been cracking up reading all your posts, though. :lmao: You guys are too much! Glad everyone has been having a good time here.

I miss the GF! :sad1: I am glad to be back with DH and my doggie, but man, I don't get quite the service here that I do there! Of course, I can't complain too much as DH is making us chocolate milkshakes right now! I swear it wasn't my idea, but it does keep up the ice cream diet I've been on the past few days! ;)

I took some more pics, and will hopefully be able to post those tomorrow or Thursday - it's a long convoluted story, but it's going to take some time to get them off the new camera DH bought me, after he insisted that I keep the settings a certain way so the pics would be of the best quality. It made those puppies huge!!

The GF was the best as always! I already mentioned my upgrade - such a nice surprise. My mom didn't know we were even staying there until our check-in morning (stayed at ASMu the night we arrived since we got in late), and she was thrilled to say the least. Not sure if my upgrade was due to friends in high places ;) , or if I just got lucky. I didn't put any requests on my ressie just to see where we would end up, and on check-in the sweet CM asked if I had any preferences for room location. I just told her I didn't want the back side of Sago, but anything else would be great. She tapped away on her computer for a while, and then had a quiet phone call with someone. After she got off the phone, she said I think you'll be pleased with your room, since you'll be able to see the Castle. :cloud9: We thanked her profusely. :goodvibes

The weather was beautiful - it was starting to get a little warm by Sunday/Monday, but Wednesday evening was almost downright chilly, and Thursday and Friday were really nice. We lucked out for May for sure. I only saw a couple of love bugs yesterday afternoon as we were saying our "goodbyes" to the MK. Hopefully they won't be too bad for those of you going in a few days!

Let's see - I did get pics of the marina pricing, and will post those soon. :thumbsup2 We ate breakfast for the 1st time at the GFC (made ressies the morning of), and it was quite tasty. :thumbsup2 Our room was great, although the new dresser and desk did have some wear and tear to them. My 26-yo DB met us for 2 days, and slept with no problem on the daybed, and he's 6'1". I didn't take pics of the room itself (7330), but did take pics of our view - I figured all the rooms look pretty much the same at this point. I would probably be a tad upset if I had booked the MK view and had the room we did (or those above/below us), as there was a large pine tree directly in front of the room. Of couse, the balcony was so large you could still see the Castle if you stood to the left side of the balcony, and views of Space Mtn. and the CR were great.

I looked around for Mr. Mike's family, but didn't spot them. What a great upgrade they had - good for them! :thumbsup2

Oh, I think we may have met the infamous lady from the lobby. Yesterday, we were getting freshened up in the bathroom there near the GFC before heading to the airport, and an older woman walked in. The housekeeper CM that was in there knew her by name, and when she was washing her hands she began talking to us. When we mentioned we were leaving to go home, she said she lived nearby, and goes to the GF at least 5 times a week to listen to the music. She said she used to do this with her husband, but he passed away not long ago - he would do paperwork, say his rosary, go for walks, etc., and she would just listen to the orchestra. I really began to wonder if she is "that" lady - she was very sweet, but did have a bit of eccentric makeup and a very interesting, obvious wig. Those that have seen her - does this sound familiar?

Mandy - meant to say I was glad to hear you went to the podcast meet. After all that happened, I figured I would pass since my mom wouldn't have really been in to it, but I would have loved to meet you and the podcast crew. I am still so sad and shocked about Bob's passing. I wasn't on the boards early last week what with getting ready to leave, but did briefly get on Wednesday morning to see why last week's podcast wasn't up. When I saw Pete's post, I almost started crying. That is one of my biggest fears - losing a loved one so unexpectedly. My heart and prayers go out to all of them.

I've also enjoyed yours and others posts on your church lives and views. DH is actually an ordained minister in the Southern Baptist faith, but does not pastor as a vocation any longer - when we married though, I was a preacher's wife  :scared1: :rotfl: . I grew up Methodist, and the church DH pastored for a while was in a little small town in west TX, and needless to say they didn't have progressive ideas on women's roles in the church. I never became a member due to that and other things, and I was quite the talk for all the church ladies. :rolleyes1 That church about did us in, so we decided it was best to get out of that situation for our marriage. Circumstances dictated that DH ended up doing something else (at least for now) as a vocation, and we love the Bible church we go to now. Our church has great outreach, but I'd love to hear about the ministry you started - sounds very interesting, and something I could see being so meaningful! :goodvibes

Oh, a couple more things about my trip....

Kristin (and others) - I'm afraid bounceback for the Grand in Dec. is a total bust. It actually seems that way for most of the deluxes! When I checked my dates that overlapped with the promo, all that was available was Poly LVC (not into the Poly for the holidays) or a YC water view. Absolutely nothing at the AKL or GF for 12/11 on.

My mom and I did both book bouncebacks for other times, though. My mom is going to try to swing my dad to the GF "dark side" and scheduled a few days in late August (although she did have to push the trip back by a week to get the GF). I booked a Poly GV room for after our Wonder cruise if DH can still remain on board with going. They pretty much had everything available deluxe-wise except for the CR Tower in early Sept., and I figured the Poly would make DH more happy than GF that time of year (he loves GF RPC and at Xmas, but really likes the Poly for warm weather trips).

Oh - I did hear the P&PP fireworks music coming from Narcoossee's, so they at least were able to pipe in that soundtrack. :thumbsup2 I know there's been some debate about whether the specialty music can be heard. We could definitely hear the soundtrack from Narcoossee's when standing out on our balcony.

About the cake - I got one and my mom was pleased, but I don't think I'll go through that ordeal again. The cake didn't arrive the first night as scheduled :headache: , even though I had talked to 2 different PD CM's that day to confirm the delivery time. I called the guy I dealt with the most the next morning, and he was appropriately horrified. He promised to deliver it himself that night, and it was there, on a pretty silver tray - it was a nice presentation in the room. However, I'm thinking that cake had to at least be 2 days old at that point, and that kind of torqued me.

Also, I had ordered an 8" cake with the custard/stawberries filling, and white chocolate ganache icing. We got white buttercream icing instead. :sad2: They did some decorative roses on the cake, did do the edible scroll with the Mother's Day message, and did do the white chocolate Minnie topper (and accented her in gold). The filling was really good - the cake was so-so, and the frosting was definitely more shortening than anything. The cake itself didn't live up to those I can get at bakeries around here, which was a shame. Like I said, my mom was surprised and thought it was great, but it wasn't worth all I went through for the quality. And thank goodness it wasn't a b-day, since they didn't get the delivery date right! If I'm looking for anything like this in the future, I'll probably be looking outside WDW.

Good luck to all those looking for cakes - I hope you have better experiences. I will post pics so you can see what I got.

watch it as they can get violent out there in the DIS world ...just ask Channing :rotfl2:

I just want to add to this about that thread. There are 3 IPO office
1. WL and Ppoly share an office and staff ( they a few really good people, I emails to those people and when I stay there I email them directly.)
2. CR and GF ( one really awesome person)
3. BWI/BC/YC ( a few apples)

I have stayed at every deluxe more than once and club level at each one. The IPO seem to work best when you work with one person. When I am dealing with the GF I want Calvin. I would even get emails from him saying I will be off the next 2 days so you wont hear from me.

The Platinum Planners are a different group. I know several them and one of them over at the Epcot resorts is AWESOME and was amazing for my YC conceirge trip this past December.

There are lots of stories here on the DIS about bad service because most people post with complaints more than wow this person was great.
But its just another reason to cover your butt. As a person in that thread said it was great til we got there. Once you are there and Disney has you and if things are going wrong or THEY made mistakes ....good luck. SOmetimes they fix it right away and other times they dont. Who wants to spend time arguing with someone when they are on vacation.

the cakes are going down hill there and its to bad

eta we should all write in about the all mistakes they have made in the 6 months
its not good

That is so odd, nobody has anything good to say about them? They have been so beyond helpful with us. Immediate responses, exact reservation times that we ask for, etc. I have been so super impressed with them. I guess everyone has a different experience. Totally crazy!!!!

Its probably because you a platinum guest with a different package. I had a "friend" on that last month at the BWI she showed up and they told her she had no tickets and ruined all the in room surprises for her kids. The IPO and on site staffs do NOT communicate the way they need to. I spent hours on the phone getting her stuff straightened out and we were able to get her an upgrade and some fast fasses and other things. It was a disaster I felt so bad for her. It was a computer error when he ressie downloaded but the CMs handled it awfully.

Thats unaccpetable.

Here is the copy and paste of the ONE and only time I tried using the grand IPO :rotfl2: I emailed asking them if they could book the VIP tour for me and this is what I got:

VIP Tour
guides book directly through their office at 407-560-4033. Their office

YES!!! My boys still LOVE Disney as much as I do, so I am still really lucky! :thumbsup2 My daughter, nah she's had enough...although watch in November she will be begging to tag along:lmao: She wants us to branch out more, but the boys really dont want to go anywhere else.

Hey we are having a girls night for SATC...I can watch the reruns over and over! Also I am not watching or reading any previews;)

I am so Happy!!!

I've been going to WDW since 1972 so it would be hard if my kids stopped wanting to go!!

I am not watching or reading any previews either, tons of friends of mine went to watch the filming, but I asked them not to tell me anything!!

Good morning ladies!
Glad to see you back and posting tink...sorry your not posting at the GF but nice to hear from you :goodvibes
sorry to hear about the cake too. :rolleyes1

Mandy~ congrats on the 500 posts!

Kelly~ thanks for clearing up the IPO deal. I did think the email I got was a bit "off". As I said though, the VIP gal I have been in contact is beyond wonderful and I couldn't be happier with her so I guess it all worked out in the end. I am just not a big fan of IPO due to the problems I had at AKL, when I got that email I just felt is was more of the same  I am glad to hear the Ipo people are not the same people in coneirge :cheer2: so our trip will still be magical :woohoo:

Tinkaroo- sounds like you had a great trip!:)

Sorry about the cake - we've had problems with various cakes, also. We've been doing the white chocolate Mickey's with tuxedo strawberries! If I need another cake, I'll be going with Peggy and one of the 2 cake places that she recommends - she posted the links to the sites on the old thread- someone here was working with her but I forget who?!:thumbsup2

Lindsay, Welcome home. I'm sorry we didn't get the chance to meet in person this trip. I'm glad you had a good time!

Did I mention that Lady Tremaine paraded the kids all over the GF lobby? It was too cute. The picture is in my new signature.

What a very magical memory! I'm so glad you guys liked 1900. We really did too. And, I'm also glad you liked Narcoossee's. It's one of our favorite places.

Calvin in IPO for the GF is the BEST! :worship:

Ditto! :worship:

Vanessa -- when are you guys at the Grand in December?

Lindsay -- I'm glad you had a great time with your mother. Can't wait to see the pics!

I am working with peggy! So far she has been great! I have never used her before but I needed a special order sugar free cake and I didn't trust L. to make sure it was sugar free. I have serious allergic reactions when it comes to sugar :rolleyes1
Peggy is going to decorate our room in the Cindy theme, complete with tons of balloons and paper and glitter and cindy themed goodies. She is also making Savannah a huge gift basket full of Cindy stuff. For the gift basket she emailed me pics of everything that was going to go in the basket... no guess work there
She searched the gift shops looking for Cindy toys, coloring books, a stuffed minnie dressed like cindy and a stuffed cindy. I was able to review everything that is going to be in the gift basket ahead of time which was GREAT!

When I check in to the GF I am supposed to tell the people at the desk that she is going to come in to decorate the room. They are going to leave a 1 time use room key at the desk for her. She is planning on decorating at 3pm but if our room is ready early She would like me to give her a call to let her know so she can get an earlier start.

I am sure I will have tons of pics of the room decorations and all when I get back!

Good Morning
