Whew...well neither did I......

I made baked sweet potatoes last week and Lucy called them "yams" and I was like "Huh?".....there are white ones too......Have you seen those? Just more confusion.

Yeah, I called my momma in Oklahoma and asked what I was supposed to buy...my recipe called for 2 cans of sweet potatoes and all I see are canned yams. Oh, she then remined me to get some fixins for baked beans and fried okra. We are so redneck. I'm sure the pilgrims had beans and fried okra on Thanksgiving....

I took my car to the garage this morning because the fan was making a loud noise. Well, they just called my and said there was a mouse in the fan motor and I need a new one. I wish he would have told me anything but that. I am totally freaked out by this. I do not do dead things. I do not want to drive that car again. If the economy was better I would get a new one, but I know I won't be able to sell mine right now and get the money I would need for it. On top of that the dog crapped on the rug. GRRRRRRRRRRR. Just needed to vent. Go back to your regularly scheduled programing.

If only they would put "sweet potatoes" on the can instead of "yams"....would make things much easier . Aren't there sweet potatoes in the produce section that you can buy separately (just like baking potatoes) ?? Seems too confusing to me......I would have been wandering around the store thinking "HUH???" . And then my mom would have gotten a call .

Morning everyone...

Is it wrong that my idea of cleaning up the leaves is to run over them a million times with the riding mower??? They get so small they just blow away or sink in.

Too funny.. i use to mow my too and that was after my first excuse didn't work...which was it doesn't look like autumn without leaves on the ground.

Maxie...OMG!!!! I'd be a bit unnerved by that too. You'll just have to do your first few drives singing..."Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens....bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens..." or "Give a little whistle....." Ew.....

And the dog!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG!!! sorry to laugh!

Live mice don't bother me, it's the dead ones I don't like. I was not kidding that if the economy was better I would get a new car. They didn't have to share that part. All they would have to say is I need a new fan motor.: I'll have to put my big girl pants on and just drive it. The dog is a boxer. She is the smartest dog I have ever seen. You can teach her something new in 2 minutes and she doesn't forget. Why doesn't she get it that you go to the bathroom outside. Our last dog was a yellow lab and he was dumber than dirt, but it never occured to him to go in the house, until he got old and sick. Glad you haven't had any surprises lately. What kind of dog do you have?

OK now I can't get that song out of my head., but that is better than thinking about the mouse. Glad you had a good conference.

Anyone have any great ideas about house training the dog. She will be a year old next week. She is too old for this. She will be good for a couple of weeks and ask to go out everytime then starts to have accidents again.

If you think your brain doesn't work in your 40's, just wait until the 50's. Not much going on up there at all.

Maxie, I hope your day gets better. I would be grossed out about the dead mouse too! No advice on housetraining here. I was superlucky with my dog, Petey. When I got him he was not kennel trained or housebroken, but he slept through the night in his kennel from the very beginning and has only ever had one accident in the house and that was our fault (I let him out and DF let him right back in, not realizing I had just let him out). He dosen't sleep in the kennel anymore though, and sometimes when he claws me in the middle of the night while he is dreaming I wish he did!

Thanks, I don't think my day could get any worse. I have never had a problem house training a dog before. Never took more than a couple of days.

Chan......Glad the conferences went well . Had a nice lunch.....but still haven't gotten rid of this darn headache . I'm not feeling too bad other than that .


Maxie.....You're just not having a good day today . First the car.....then the dog......now your computer . No suggestions on the dog training . We got our yellow lab at 7 weeks old (he's now 3 years old) and he trained very quick and is a very well behaved dog . I couldn't have asked for a better dog . I'm sorry you're having trouble training.....I wish I had some tips for you .

hey, all!

After schlepping my kids around this morning....and running an errand...I have had the most BORING DAY.

We made gingerbread cookie dough....it's chilling. I hate rolling it out and all that jazz. But....must do it.

ANYWAY......Maxie...on that doggie thing....hmm ......I don't know about that training thing. That would drive me crazy crabby. I never had an issue with Tatum. She doesn't even bark or fuss to go out. She just sits by the glass doors and waits to be noticed. The only time she had an accident, I was in Lake Geneva with a friend and DH and DS were home with her...totally IGNORING her until she had diarrhea in DH's office right in front of him. He finally got the hint. Other than THAT she has never ever had an accident at all. I did use treats A LOT when she was a puppy. She is my girly girl and loves her carbs....so treats work wonders with her. Would they work with Nala? Treats every each time for a job well done.

Deb....sorry you still feel icky. It's good you went out and had some fun though. Hopefully you won't feel worse for it.

TTYL....gotta check on some dough.

Busy week coming up and I'm not even cooking!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I went to the dentist this AM for my semi annual and then started wrapping presents. Every year I think I can do it one day and every year it takes at least 3! I really hope to be farther along with it tomorrow though...

Chan: We do give her a lot of treats for a job well done. She gets a cookie, an all natural Blue Dog Bakery cookie, they are big and cut out in animal shapes. She also has small bones we use for training. She knows the difference too. If DH takes her out and doesn't give her a cookie she comes to me and lets me know about it. Never had an issue like this with any other dog.
Well my day is getting better. The monitor is working again. DH just unpluged it and pluged it back in again. Don't know why that works, but it fixes a lot of things. I picked up the car, but it was creepy driving it. I just couldn't get the mouse out of my head, even with Chan's song still there.

Tatum LOVES the pool. Newfs are water lovers alright. They have a long history with water work...and are still used in parts of Europe on beaches as life guards. I bought her on a whim....saw a Louis & Clark documentary and said to myself "I have to have one of those dogs" and the rest is . We were made for each other.

We have cookie sheets of gingerbreads now.....and I forgot last year I bought an adorable set of Mickey gingerbread cookie cutters. They're funny cute. They are baking now and the house smells....mmmmmmmmmmm good.

Maxie, that is funny about how she tattletales on daddy for forgetting the cookie. I don't know what to do about that potty training situation. Bribes just always worked wonders for me. Is she mad at you about something? Maybe she is letting you know???

Maxie, my dog is 3.5 and still will leave a poop on the floor from time to time. She goes to the door, scratches, but if no one is home she will go to her favorite spot in the family room and leave a present for us. It drives me CRAZY!!!! Treats didn't work for us either. Neither did cage training. She has no qualms at all about messing her cage- she was a "marker" from the beginning! *Sigh*

Chan- isn't Charm school a riot!!! I am also a big fan of the Pick Up Artist. This is the 2nd season for that, but I never saw the first one. DH loves to watch it too and see what "Mystery" is wearing. He is such a dork!!!! (Mystery, not DH!!)
