Bethclayton I am so sorry to read about the loss of your mother, I can't imagine your pain, but I hope you are able to find some peace.

bethclayton, so sorry for your loss. Thanks for sharing the pictures of your beautiful mother enjoying her time at GF. I'm sure I'll be remembering her smiling face in 2 weeks when I check into GF with my own DD34 and DGrD2 - I'll be sure and let them take some extra photos of us all together smiling.
They are, after all, the most precious moments of all - when we are together.

We just lost both my beloved dad and DH's only uncle on 12/20, our thoughts and prayers to all here whose hearts are aching.

Your story about her never staying anywhere else is similar to mine before my mother passed. My mom never wanted to stay anywhere else except the Grand. We were there 3 years in a row with her and that was the last vacation she ever took was at the Grand. Hugs to you my friend.

On another, happier note, has anyone heard (or seen if you're there now) if there is outside evidence of the renos? I am assuming that since it's more cosmetic, that all the work is inside and that the only inconvenience is that one cannot book that particular building.

I understood that too..and probably there will be no signs outside the particular building of what's going on. (right now it's Conch Key, from what a previous poster reported..)

Does this mean they're go in the direction on how the new villas are decorated???

I was blown away about how gorgeous the villas are. I'll probably have an unpopular opinion here, but I'm not the biggest fan on GF's wallpaper and bedspread, so I hope they get a similar treatment as the villas did.

You are in the majority on the spread, nobody seemed to like them, lol. They are already gone, the beds currently have white triple sheeting with a dark blue bed scarf. Not sure if that is what will be there in the end, but by the look of all the other resorts after their current renovations, I think they will.

On the other hand, I've always loved the paper in the GF rooms, both the older patterns in the bath/dressing area and the newer jacquard paper in the bedrooms. I like the current drapes, too, but I imagine they will go.

Nobody seems to know exactly what direction the refurb will take, but there are a few clues, we feel. BlueSkies mentioned a refurb of the RPC back elevator interior last year, she said it was a soft blue and green, similar to the Gasparilla's colors.

I'm pretty sure posters have said they found VB in Summer Lace. I know that's where the D&B bags have always been.

Summer Lace and the store on Main St where they sell D&B on the right side past the Confectionery. Both only had duffels left at this time but new print should be arriving in the spring. Also some have found them at DTD but I don't know which store.

I too an so very curious about what the new décor will look like..judging by the current update...just the white bedding and the blue bed scarves..I am thinking that that is a good indication that it will mirror that of the villas...which is very nice..its bright..yet has a warmth.... Only time will tell... Waiting patiently???

We did see VB merchandise in summer Lace even back in the fall...looking forward to seeing what new pattern is coming out next...

Re: the new decor in the GF, while I thought the VGF decor was just beautiful, warm and welcoming, I will really miss the little Mickey touches and Victorian charm. That's what the GF has represented to me all these years.
