My two sisters, my aunt and my niece are all putting together our JUNK and getting RID of it!! :bounce:

Michael and my great niece Brittanie are running a lemonade stand. They are so excited about that!

Any good tips or advice?

Here's an idea that my kids came up with to increase lemonade sales. Go out and get a barrel of pretzel rods and give those away free. According to James and Sarah, that makes people more thirsty and so they sell a lot more lemonade.

Good luck with the garage sale!!!

Awesome idea, John!

Truthfully, it will give these two money hungry animals something to do besides getting into our hair! :p They've already decided how they're going to spend their money!

The 2 things that worked best for me were:

Signs - we had just as many people that came due to our signs than from the ad.

Price your items - either in bulk or individually. Sometimes prople don't want to bother to ask, especially if you are busy with another customer.

Good Luck!!:D

LOL love the pretzel idea Towncrier! Have fun with the yard sale, jsut don't sell anything that might end up on the antique road show one day! lol I hate it when those people buy a blanket for 5 bucks at a yard sale and it turns out to be worth $300,000 bucks. And that did happen on an episode I saw :)

I doubt if anything I have is worth anything.... :p

I did buy an oriental rug for my Mom one time for $9 that ended up being worth more than $300!

I agree with the signs. I'm having my 13 year old great neices draw them up this week. I am also advertising it in the local paper which brings people out in droves! I already have sticky price tags also!

Keep your fingers crossed for us. This is going to be a JOB!

My kids discovered a few years ago that cans of pop went better than lemonade. It's less work for you and people will pay fifty cents for a can, easy. They made a killing! I had to go get more pop after about an hour and a half.

Our last sale we went with a color coded pricing system for most of the items. All blue dots were 50 cents, yellow dots were $1, etc. We put up a BIG sign that had the key, so people would know what the dots meant. You can also put initials on the dots to keep track of who the item belongs to. It just saves time pricing items if you don't have to write the price over and over.

Good luck. Hope you make a bunch selling what you don't use!

Maximum respect for doing the sale Robin. We should have one, but it's too much work.

What type of garage do you have, Robin? If it is a two car garage, then I offer $10. If it is a 4 car, I offer $25.

:)

Hope it's a huge success, Robin! Nothing like a little extra Disney money!

I love the idea of the soda Robin, they could do the lemonaide and the soda. You can go to Wal-Mart and buy those cheap Sams Choice sodas which don't taste bad and they would make a great profit selling them for .50 cents each.

Good luck to you and Michael! I hate gargae sales but every time we have one we make at least $200 or $300 dollars.

No advice, just wishing you good luck. :)

when we had our garage sale last year our kids sold lemonade and had a bake sale~ people stopped just for the baked goods.;) good luck to you.

I haven't had a garage sale for many years. Good luck to you and to the youngest entrepreneurs :)

Be up early. The serious garage salers come around way before most. We had someone pull into our driveway one Friday evening asking if we were participating in the neighborhood yard sale the next day. She was trying to get a jump on the good stuff!!

Good luck. I hope you sell it all and make a lot.

Well Uncle Kyle you sure hit the nail on the head there with the antique thing.

We had a garage a few years ago & I had some old vases that belonged to my late MIL out for sale. Unbeknowns to me at the time one was in fact an antique & I sold it to the dude for $1. I didn't twig till a day or so later. He asked if I had anything else of that vintage & I dumbly said "I don't know". Also this guy came around the day before & got the cream of the crop as did all the Saturday flea market people.:(

Hope you do well Robinrs & don't let anyone pull the wool over your eyes:D

Good luck Robin - try to hang stuff - I have used ladders as clothes racks - also if you have two ladders - you can put broom pools between the two and hang stuff up that way

I like those nail bags that tie around your waist for the money - easier to keep an eye on too -

Bumping up for any more advice....our whole neighborhood is having yard sale saturday. Not sure if that is good to draw people out or bad b/c soo many sales for people to choose from!
