We have an ADR for Sci-Fi on our first night. I like the idea of the cars and movies but nothing but the salad or burger appeals to us on the menu. I feel like we'd be wasting a TS on this place.
Since we'll have too many CS credits I was thinking of going to Pepper Market instead. The CS in MGM are pretty nasty, and it'd give us a chance to check out CSR. And we could use the TS credit on one of the character breakfasts we planned to pay OOP for.

What would you do ?!

I liked the food at Sci-Fi, but if you don't see anything you like on the menue I wouldn't waste my food points. Why don't you just go for dessert?

the burgers are great at SciFi...and so are the shakes... I think scifi is soooooooooooooo much better then the peppermarket... If you are going to be in the park give it a try... I really dont think you will be disappointed. Oohhh and try the onion rings too!

What I'd love to do is go for dessert after Fantasmic but the latest ADR I could get was 9.30. Fantasmic is at 9 and I don't think we'll make it :(

Do you think they'll be OK with us going around 2pm just for an appy & dessert ? I don't want to "steal" an ADR from someone who would be paying for a full meal.

we love Sci Fi's campiness!!!

Although the food, well. I usually have the appetizer chili and a Buena Vista Chard and Dh has shake burger and fries - very easy and pretty inexpensive OOP. (for us anyway!)

Unfortunately I'm lactose intolerant so the shakes are out for me. DM doesn't like them. Maybe I should change our ressie for lunch and just share a burger with DM... Hmmmmmm such difficult choices :rotfl:

From a food quality/taste standpoint, the Pepper Market is the winner IMO. We ate at the SciFi Drive-In in December when we were on the DDP and I was darn glad I didn't have to pay out of pocket for it! The food was "blah" and the service indifferent. The bill, for 2 adults and 1 child, was almost $100. I would rather spend my TS credits elsewhere.

The Pepper Market has *great* food, including fresh tuna steaks, prime rib and grilled steaks. The pizzas are also very good. Your CS credit will include the gratuity. The only minus is that you are restricted to muffins and cookies for your dessert.

Did you ever get a bad attitude from the server because you didn't both order a full meal ? I'm a little worried about that.

completely offtopic, but check out digestive advantage lactose intolerance on amazon.com (you can get it elsewhere too). all 5 star reviews

Thanks for your help ! Did you think the atmosphere at the Sci-Fi was worth going at all ? We have never been to a drive in movie, they don't exist here (crazy country!!!!!!!).

:confused3 I don't think ordering a dessert would be a problem....call reservations and see what they say.

Cool thanks I'll check it out !

I can't imagine that a character breakfast would actually be cheaper to the point of choosing it as OOP instead of Sci-Fi. But what do I know. I don't use the DDP anyway.

We ate at Sci-Fi last year and enjoyed it, but every one has their opinion, we have ti booked this year too. If you are planning on paying OOP, instead of using a TS credit, you can order what ever you want. If you mean you are going to use a TS for just the appetizer and dessert then again I doubt there would be an issue, but ore of a waste for you not getting yourentire meal and losing a TS credit. If you only want a few things just pay OOP.

I was naturally more inclined to do the drive-in + burger + shake theme(good memories of drive-ins) and had never desired to go to 50's Prime Time (bad memories of family dinners?).

I LOVE the 50's Prime Time - food was outstanding and the atmosphere interactive and fun!

Pepper Market is GREAT, we stayed there last year on the dining plan, even used a few table services because we didnt want to leave the property at the time. It is the best counterservice in my opinion.

In conclusion tho, if I am at MGM - I much rather dine at MGM then go all the way out, catch a bus/car , eat somewhere, then go back in. And with a choice of places in MGM...

But thats me.
Have a great vacation.

HI, We went to Sci-fi in January and very very impressed. The burgers were great. Our kids thought it was amazing. It was an experience you are not going to get anywhere else other than Disney. We had a really fun time and it was one of the highlights of our trip.

I would run away as fast as I could!! We went there in March and we thought it was one of the worst meals we had. The menu was lousy, the lighting was terrible, the movies on the screen stunk and we would never go back. There are far too many other good restaurants to go to. I think out of all the parks, MGM has by far, the worst choices to pick from....JMHO though since you asked...:flower3:

I think it depends on what you order. I'd stick to a burger, no appy no dessert and it would definitely be cheaper for me than a character breakfast, but DM may want more expensive things.

Thank you all for your help I think I will change our Sci-Fi ressie to a very late lunch instead and we'll decide what we want to do when we get there. We may be too tired (or lazy!) to go to CSR so at least I'll have a backup.

:thanks: :disrocks:

We are doing Sci-Fi (dinner)when we go in Sept....I am not sure what to expect as there are so many mixed reviews....the kids picked it though, so I cannot change it. Thanks goodness we are on the DDP (and free to boot).
