I haven't scrapped in 4 years and I want to start again once I clean up my room in the basement that was going to be the kids playroom. I'm going to set up an area for sewing and an area for scrapping - both of which I haven't done in 4 yrs since moving to this house.

Of course, if I'm going back into scrapbooking, my Disney trip is a great place to start. Are there any places that would help get me started? Such as certain pictures to try and take? Is there a scrapbooking store at DW?

Any ideas to help me start planning? We leave the night of Nov 17th and are driving through the night to arrive at CSR between noon and 3 PM on Nov 18th.

I'd say take piccies of everything and anything! :teeth: But some of my faves are piccies I took of the park icons:- the hat, Spaceship Earth, The Tree of Life and the Castle. Also, piccies of the 'front doors' with the name of the park. Perhaps your fave rides/attractions? Take lots of your hotel and hire car if you are hiring one. I wish I'd taken more photos at night in resturants etc...

There is a Scrapbooking shop in Downtown Disney and all the parks stock scrapping supplies as well. I am in the UK and could provide you a list of UK stockists that I use for Disney stash but I'm not very clued up on stockists in the USA.

I would also recommend that you keep items to "embellish" your pages. These are (mostly) free and really add to the pages.
Stuff like:
- park maps
- resort maps
- menus
- unused fast passes
- tickets
- airline boarding passes
- pressed pennies
- buttons or pins (if you ar not a die hard collector)

Other ideas anyone?

I second Susan's idea to save everything (if you're going on a new trip). Get in line for autographs & photos even if you normally don't.

I've not been real fond of the amount or lack thereof of scrapbooking supplies at the World. Try www.mousememories.com for a great on-line site for Disney scrapbooking stuff, or if you have Michael's/Joanne's/Hobby Lobby, etc. and/or your local scrapbooking store, definately try them as well.

Welcome back to the craft! :teeth:

Everyone has made great recommendations on what pictures to take and what memorabelia to get but may I suggest you pick up a box of the 2 gallon Zip Lock bags for organizing what you collect during the day.

Someone recommended this to me and it made a huge difference when I got home. I was able to jump right into scrapbooking rather than feel overwhelmed by getting everything organized.

What I do, it put in a bag, one dated for each day of the trip, in the bottom of my suitcase. At the end of the day, everything I collected, air plane receipts, park guidebooks, napkins (clean), etc. go into that days Zip Lock bag. Going home, the bags lay flat on the bottom of my suitcase, nothing gets crushed.

As soon as I get my pictures, I put the apporiate pictures in the dated bag, and I am ready to scrapbook! And yes, you can say it, I'm anal. :lmao:

Thanks for the replies everyone. I'm looking forward to getting back into scrapping again and what a wonderful way to do it--by doing our trip. Thanks for all the suggestions including how to organize it all.

I guess I'm going to have to figure out how to "sneak" away from DH to go to the scrapbook store. :rotfl:

I finally finished scrapping my Sept/Oct 2005 trip this past summer. I caved and bought the Creative Memories Disney album and made it with black pages. It is one of my all time favorite albums! You should check it out!

I have to say thanks Lisa for that awesome organizing tip. I am a saver of everything and put it in my carry on pocket and then I have to sort them out it is really dis heartening. I have used the scrapbooking kits from Disneyland in the past and I would guess that WDW has similar ones. I also can't resist anything from my LSS with Disney characters on it. I have been stocking up for my up coming trip and www.disneyscrapper.com has every title I can think of and some I didn't in the Walt Disney script so I am making a list while I go and then watch out credit card!!

Do you have your pictures of your pages posted anywhere? I would love to see them.

Wow thanks for the tip. I might do this for our november trip. I have never scrapped an album by day and this would make it really easy. I will still however have to seperate out World Showcase as I think I am going to do a special seperate album of that!

Hey Sherreis! We are going to be in the same hotel on the same days! DH has already agreed to take me to Disney Memories, but he is not worried since he will never forget how upset I got when I saw how little they had!!! He is confident it will be an in-and-out visit. :)

Everyone has great ideas, and do not forget to have something sturdy for autographs. My books last time almost bent because I used thin cardboard.

I'm finding a lot of DISers who will be at CSR that week. AC Moore had a special sale yesterday and I did buy some Disney stickers at 25% off, figuring, I'll use them somewhere in a scrapbook.

As for the autograph books, those are on my agenda for next weekend when I'm not working. I think I'm going to make them and hope that the boys will want to collect autographs. Any suggestions on brands? Yesterday, I bought some things for the trip for the boys - coloring stuff and games. And, I bought a lot of toiletry stuff.

I bought the 5x7 Sarabinders from PaperPizazz/Hot Off the Press and I am decorating them for the autograph books. That way we can remove/rearrange pages if need be. They are also pretty sturdy and I am going to decopague the covers so that the decorations won't come off. I put castle diecuts on the backs and their names on the front. I will post when I am done.

I am also making costumes for the kids, so I am keeping myself busy. Can you believe it is only 5 weeks away?

Thanks. I started looking at AC Moore the other day when I was there but wasn't sure what to be looking for. I'll go to Michael's this week and see what they have since I'll have more time. I'm also planning on stoppng at a local scrapbooking store to get motivated and see what they have.

As for 5 weeks.....no, I can't believe it! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc
What costumes are you making? It's been awhile since I've sewn costumes for my kids. It's usually a lot of fun.

DD had Snow White from last year and I have finished Belle, Aurora Pink, Aurora Blue and Ariel's Wedding Gown for her. I am in the process of cutting out a Jedi and Cap'n Hook for DS. He also wants to look like the Prince/Prince Eric on their wedding days. That one is going to take some work since I cannot find a pattern and will have to improvise.
