Ok, So I just started the paperwork to purchase my DVC last wed. (7/23)
and here is my dilemma.
I have been told that it could take as long as 60days to close. (I'm buying Resale)

I need a room(s) booked for 12/7-11 and I want to stay at 2 diff. DVC.
I would like 2 nights at AKV concierge studio and 2 nights at BWV or BCV studio.

How are my chances at getting what I want if I can't book until Aug or Sept.

Also - Is it possible to book the rooms now even though I don't own yet.
Can I book with a deposit. then the room converts to the DVC points once the paperwork gets finished.

Any Help would be appreciated.

Julie

Welcome Home! :)

Your options at this time are to make a cash reservation thru CRO and then see if your can make the same reservation using points once you are within the DVC system ... or just wait until you are in the system to try for a DVC reservation.

At this time there is little DVC availability at any onsite resort for early-mid December - so I'd suggest making a cash reservation if you really want to go at that time. Cash reservations cannot be converted to a DVC point reservation since they come from two different inventories.

Right now, most DVC villas for that timeframe are already filled plus there is a waitlist for any cancellations that may occur. You never can tell what your chances might be, but since you can't even check availability until about 2 months prior, I'd make alternate arrangements ASAP. Those dates have been booking since January and we are well within the 7 month reservation window. In addition, anything still available 60 days before arrival is also turned over the CRO for cash reservations.

Good luck! :)

AKV conceirge is rarely available less than 11 months, although a friend got one for late June at 7 months. There are only 5 two bedroom lockoffs (can be booked separately as 1 bedroom or studio). BCV and BWV are very popular the first week of December due to the low points and the Christmas season activities. Which resort did you buy at?

I too am waiting to book........we passed ROFR 7/17 and should close in aug. We want to go in Jan. and I would love to stay AKV concierge but I know it probably won't be available so I'm not getting my hopes up. We will be happy anywhere really.

Just know that you are not alone in the waiting game...........it's KILLING me!

Your chance of getting those two choices is non-existent if you booked right this minute. They've been booked with waiting lists for months.

On the good side, you have next year (and many years after) to get those choices.

Doc, You indicated... anything still available 60 days before arrival is also turned over the CRO for cash reservations. Yet, you can WL for up to 30 days or 7 days prior to your visit. If all inventory is turned over to CRO at 60 days, how would a WL ever come through at 30 or 7 days? I must be missing something! TIA for the clarification as I'm new to the DVC game.

Doc can step in to clarify, but I think he is saying that villas not booked with members' points are turned over to CRO at the 60 days. So if say a studio at OKW is not booked by now (end of July) for September (nobody waitlisted for it), then it would now be turned over to CRO for cash bookings.

Take a deep breath and relax... WELCOME HOME! I know it's difficult, but it will all work out in the end.

The reason it's so tough to get AKV Concierge is because there are only five two bedroom locks offs available. You really have to own at AKV to get AKV Concierge. There are many other views/villa types/etc that require ownership at that resort to get them because you need to reserve at 11 months out. That's why so many members state "Buy where you want to stay the most" or "Buy where you won't mind staying if you can't change that reservation at 7 months".
