Have you used Davids rental to rent your points? How fast did it happen?

I have never rent out my points, but would use David if I ever consider it.

Hi,
I was going to use my points for DCL for a cruise April 2016.

I have 26pts that are banked into next year. I have an April use year at WLV.
I get another 250pts this April.

I am considering using Davids rental to rent the points and pay for the cruise.
But.....I am not a patient woman and I would love to just book the cruise and pick my perfect cabin.

So how fast have you rented your points?
Are you happy with your transaction?
Can I change my mind at any time?

Any other info will be great
Thanks
Kerri

Every time we used this it happened very quickly. BUT the annoying thing is you don't get the 2nd half of your money until the guest checks in. Most of the times I have rented, people utilized the 11 month booking option and so I had to wait 11 months to get the rest of the money. Just keep that in mind if you are using the money for your cruise. Overall though, the service is great with no issues other than that.

I have used David' several times and have always been please. You make the ressie so you decide what points you use.

Ugh can't get this multi quote thing to work.

My cruise is for April 16 so I will have all money by then:sail::teeth:

Do you have to rent all of your use year points or can you choose to rent a portion of them? We are taking a trip this summer but have about 150 points left and won't be using them. I'd love to rent them out if possible.
Yes you choose how many to use.
I wanted to rent 276 points. The reservation I needed was 278 points so I chose to borrow the 2 points to make it happen.
I think I lucked out that it was pretty exact number of points.
Initially I was going to rent 500 points. Borrow 250 from next year. But I didn't like the fact that if something went wrong I would be stuck with those points in my 2015 April use year.
So I am very happy with the way this went.

This all started because I was going to book DCL using points. Would have cost 716 points for 4 people.:headache: Or 446 points for 2 people and pay 2000.
Thats a lot of points.
So I said let me try renting. Now I rented 278 points. That money plus 1800 will pay for my cruise.
Soooo I essentially saved 168 points and $200. :sunny:
I think only my fellow dis'ers can follow that:teeth:

The reason they hold back 50% is so the member doesn't cancel or keep their dues up. It is just a matter of security for Daves. The day they check in you get an email saying the points are in paypal. Very easy. Dave doesn't allow changes or requests, so once booked the only things that could be added are DP and Airport Pick up. I don't have instant access to my emails and have always rented out my points in under 2weeks, so they try their best if you show your serious and call back with each email.
If the buyer cancels, they will get your points rented for you quick, just cant remember if they pay twice or half?
Maybe Dave can chime in since he is on here all the time too.

You tell David the number of points you are willing to rent. He does have a minimum, but I'm sure it's less than 150. Go read the info on his site - it will tell you all you need to know about the process. :)

I signed up yesterday to rent some of my points. Just patiently (or not so patiently) waiting. :rolleyes1 This will be the first time we have ever rented out any of our points. I did a transfer once and that was a piece of cake. Thanks for all the advice of this board, you all have been really helpful. I do have one question... I've been stalking my emails, are there certain times of the day that they email out for interest? Will I ever get them after 5:00? I'll be back at work tomorrow so it will be more difficult for me to monitor my email multiple times per day.

Probably during business hours I would imagine. My request came early the next morning... 9;30ish. I responded soon after and I was lucky to be able to call with minimal wait time at work.

The renter has to pay when the reservation is made and there are no refunds. Even if the renter cancels, the renter loses out on the money. Not you.
For an owner it's an awesome service and renter saves lots of money.
Just wondering have there been any reports of a renter thru broker showing up at Wdw with no room and an owner cancelled? That would be terrible!!!!

This thread was great, we just submitted some points at David's Rental to rent out. Hopefully we hear back soon!

Yes it would!!! I'm thinking David checks to make sure Ressie is still in place.

You can but there is a minimum of 95 points.

We listed some of our points with David last month and within 8 hours had an agreement. Wonderful service that I wish I'd used earlier!

I listed points several weeks ago. I got a match a couple of days later for a few of my points, but now it's been several weeks and I still haven't rented the rest (majority) of my points. Just mentioning it because it may not rent that quickly as others have posted. Everyone else seems to have had a quicker turn around than I have experienced.

Kerri,
I listed 150-160 VWL points. I rented 60 the first time. Still sitting on the other 100. I hope they rent soon, I'd like to stop stalking my email 100 times a day! :)
