Have You Stayed in an AK Grand Villa?

I just booked this for a last minute stay in a couple of weeks. After reading a report that the animals will be moved from the sunset savannah starting Jan 15th, I am wondering if there is a chance we will not have a savannah view. I am wondering if I should call and request a certain savannah or if I even need to do that.

Since all of the GVs at AKV are Savannah View, you will have a Savannah View. As I understand it, they will be adjusting the points for people staying in other rooms facing the Sunset Savannah during that time, charging them as if they had a standard view room. Since there are no standard view Grand Villas, the question would be, what kind of adjustment should they make for those staying in a Grand Villa facing the Sunset Savannah when the animals are gone? I would call Member Services, and ask what kind of adjustments to GV points they will make if you wind up in that situation. Better to have all the expectations clarified going in than try to deal with surprises later.

subscribing- we are toying with the idea of doing a grand villa stay here in 2011.

MS has told me that there is no guarantee that my "savannah" view will have animals while we are there. It will be disappointing to not have a savannah view, but we will deal with it if that happens. I have read that some are getting their points returned if they were booked as savannah and then changed because of the animals being moved. But, that could not happen with a GV since they are all supposed to have that view. It is what it is and it won't ruin our trip...still hoping though!

By 2011...you shouldn't have an issue with booking a GV and not having a savannah view.

We stayed in the GV in Jambo and just loved it. Even if we weren't able to have the savanah view the room is incredible. I haven't stayed in the new building.

Kidani Village (the new building) isn't open yet. Phase 1 opens on May 1, 2009.
